190 Japanese language students graduate at MOSAI Institute of Japanese Language

New Delhi: MOSAI Institute of Japanese Language (MIJL) churned out two more batches consisting of 190 Japanese language students during the 18th Graduation Ceremony in New Delhi on February 22, 2020.

Held in the premises of Mount Carmel School (Senior Wing), Anand Niketan, the ceremony witnessed the presence of top of the Japanese Embassy, Japanese corporate worlds as well as community and Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

The chief guest of the event His Excellency Hitoshi Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Japan; Kaoru Miyamoto, Director General, Japan Foundation, New Delhi; Masaki Morohoshi, CMD, Sumitomo Corporation and head, Japanese Association Delhi; and Dr. Ashok  Chawla, Advisor, MEA (Indo-Japan affairs)  gave away the degrees and prizes to the successful students.

 As many as 100 students graduated from the July 2018 – June 2019 batch in which 168 students had appeared in total. Ninety students out of 157 passed out from the January 2019 – December 2019 batch.

The occasion not only witnessed an excellent cultural program by the Japanese Residents’ Chorus Group, the students too addressed the audience in the fluent and flawless Japanese language.

In his address made in the Japanese language, the Japan Ambassador Hitoshi Suzuki said that it was necessary for the student not only to learn the Japanese language but also its culture.

“Besides proficiency in the Japanese language, the students also need to understand the rich Japanese culture and etiquettes too. In time to come, these students will act as ambassadors of Japanese language and culture and bring the two nations Japan and India closer,” said the ambassador.

Dr. Ashok Jain, President, MOSAI Institute of Japanese Language (MIJL) said that learning Japanese language and culture would open a plethora of opportunities to the students.

“A huge amount of Japanese companies in various sectors are coming to India to do business here and these students stand a very good chance to get employed in these companies,” he added.

Dr. Jain congratulated the parents of the students for allowing their wards for studying the Japanese language.

“These students can also look forward to studying in Japanese universities. The majority of the 19 Noble laureates in Japan, won this honor while conducting researches in Japanese universities. Therefore studying in Japanese universities is an excellent idea and students have taken the first step towards that by learning the Japanese language,” said Dr. Jain.

Even Indian athletes who are about to participate in Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020, are receiving training on Japanese culture from the Japanese professors, and it indicates at the multi-dimensional contacts between the two countries and these are bound to grow, he added.

Dr. Ashok Chawla, who also an associate of MOSAI, is the man behind ambitious Japanese language teachers training program that aims at preparing an army of 1000 Japanese teachers in India and promote this language here, said Dr. Jain adding that choosing Japanese teachers job as a career was also an excellent idea.

He said that these teachers are in great demand in India as many universities across India are looking for Japanese teachers.
