NEW DELHI. Held every fall, Thailand’s Loy Krathong – also spelled as “Loi Krathong”, is a surreal experience, visually mesmerizing celebration. The name translates to “floating basket,” and thousands of candle-lit banana leaf boats known as krathongs are released in waterways to symbolize renewal.

The evening took off with a beautiful cultural performance put together by a team of dancers and musicians flown in from Chiang Mai, Northern region of Thailand followed by a special Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) performance.

The performances ended with a decorated long drum procession where Miss Loi Krathong was carried on a palanquin to the pool site where she invited the guests to release the candlelit krathongs.
