68 Indian students, youths travel to Japan under 7-day JENESYS program
TOKYO: A group of 68 youths from India is currently traveling to Japan under the JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths), a people-to-people exchange program between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. These youths left for Japan on January 25 and would remain there for seven days to closely experience the land of the rising sun.
Japan has invited four groups of Indian youths based on the themes of Science and Technology, Japanese Language and Culture Exchange, and Sports Exchange Rugby.
The objectives of JENESYS is to promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, and to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation. It also aims at encouraging an understanding of Japan’s economics, society, history, diverse culture, politics and diplomatic relations.
The participants, after arriving in Japan on 25th January had an Orientation, and thereafter, moved to the local cities to experience Japanese Culture and Technology, sports exchanges and home stays.
Launched in 2015, approximately 23,000 youths from various countries across East Asia have participated in program. Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs is intended to promote people-to-people exchanges between Japan and the various nations of the Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean regions.
Being executed with the cooperation of AFS India, the program JENESYS 2022 is a mark of the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The program as a whole was a venture to provide exposure to the youth to the immense possibility of intercultural exchange and dialogue, commitment to peace, involvement of youth, and envisioning the future together with sharing of technology, ideas, culture, and beliefs.
Participants from across India got the opportunity to go on the Cultural Exchange Program organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan.
There were four themes under which 68 participants went on the program. Science and Technology Theme participants will be visiting Kitakyushu Environment Museum, Kitakyushu City Science Museum, and various other museums on History and culture.
They would be going for a Yaskawa Electric Corporation Factory visit and attending lectures from various professors. Sports exchange Rugby participants will be visiting Shimadzu Corporation Company visit and rugby club exchange, attending Training sessions, exchanging with the Rugby Club and JICA, and visiting Various temples.
During the visit, they will also be doing a courtesy visit to Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU) / Stadium tour / Lecture on Tournament management / Lecture on Leader training. Japanese Language and Culture Exchange A & B participants will be visiting Nara Prefectural University and a Courtesy visit to Wakayama Prefectural Government.
They will be going for heritage walks and to different temples. Along with this, the youths are also likely to learn and experience Calligraphy and Origami.
