70 Japanese Cos. with focus on Semiconductor & green growth attend Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit

GANDHINAGAR, GUJARAT: Hosaka Shin, Vice Minister, International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan accompanies by Kazuya NAKAJO Executive Vice President, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) led a delegation of 70 companies from Japan to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 held in Gandhinagar on January 10-12. The delegation stressed on two priority areas – the semiconductor and green growth industry.
Japan Vice-Minister met the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel who wished fast recuperation of Japan from the adversities caused by the recent earthquake. Vice Minister Hosaka Shin thanked the Chief Minister for his sensitive approach.
Hosaka Shin stated that approximately 70 companies have joined him in this Vibrant Summit delegation. He stated that Japan aims to progress systematically in developing partnerships with Gujarat in the semiconductor, hydrogen, and green ammonia-green growth sectors.
The Japanese Vice-Minister said that he had heard about the success of Gujarat’s two-decade journey of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit from various global platforms. He mentioned that his purpose to attend the eagerly anticipated Vibrant Summit has been fulfilled. He stated that over three hundred and fifty Japanese companies are actively operating in Gujarat, gaining benefits thanks to the state government’s proactive approach.
Japanese Envoy to India Hiroshi Suzuki, while speaking at the magnificent Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, expressed his excitement as 70 Japanese companies participated in the event.
“I am very excited about Vibrant Gujarat because we have 70 Japanese companies participating in this. We have two priority areas – the semiconductor and green growth industry. So, we are so excited and I sincerely hope that this Vibrant Gujarat will lead to concrete progress in the future for special partnership between Japan and India,” said Envoy Suzuki.
During the summit, the Seminar -“Next Phase” of Japan’s contribution towards “Make in India” was organized by JETRO with Kazuya NAKAJO Executive Vice President, JETRO Ambassador Hiroshi SUZUKI addressing it.

Ltd., Yoshihide HIGAKI, Corporate Officer, SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd., Rei KIMURA, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, India, Tomonori TERAI, Managing Director, Hitachi Zosen India, and Faishal ASHRAF, Managing Director, Mitsui & Co. India also attended it. Takuro HORIKOSHI, CMD, Sumitomo Corporation India and President, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII) made slosing remarks during this seminar.
JETRO representatives expressed their willingness to export not only to India’s domestic market but also to global markets through the ‘Make in India’ initiative. They conveyed interest in exploring opportunities in emerging fields, including deep tech.
A day before the start of the Summit, Kazuya Nakajo San, the Executive Vice President of JETRO, met Gujarat Chief Minister in Gandhinagar. He reportedly told the CM that Japanese companies were keen to begin operations in the semiconductor sector, particularly in collaboration with Gujarat, India. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conveyed his confidence in strengthening Japan-Gujarat relations and assured the full cooperation of the state government to Japanese companies. The Chief Minister also reminisced about his meeting with JETRO during his recent visit to Japan concerning the Vibrant Summit.
