71st Anniversary India-Japan Friendship Golf Cup to commemorate Japan’s G7 Presidency, India’s G20 Presidency
Besides being the 71st anniversary of the establishment of India-Japan diplomatic relations, the year 2023 also marks Japan’s G7 Presidency and India’s G20 Presidency.
NEW DELHI: Gurugram is all set to host the “71st Anniversary India-Japan Friendship Golf Cup” on October 8 to celebrate the year 2023 as the 71st anniversary of the establishment of India-Japan diplomatic relations. Being organized by Asian Community News (ACN) Network, the event also marks the celebration of Japan’s G7 Presidency and India’s G20 Presidency during the current year. The event would witness 71 Japanese diplomates, institutions & corporate heads, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs playing golf with Indian counterparts number about 41.
The upcoming event on October 8 (Sunday) is the sequel of the “70th Anniversary India-Japan Friendship Golf Cup”, which was organized last year by ACN Network and its Advisory Board to mark the year as the 70th Anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations. The Embassy of Japan, New Delhi, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Aju group of Japanese hotels supported the event to make it a huge success.
Last year the “70th Anniversary India-Japan Friendship Golf Cup” played at the Golden Greens Golf Course was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Dushyant S Chautala, Kunihiko Kawazu san, Minister & Deputy Chief of Mission, and the then Charge d’affairs Ad Interim, Embassy of Japan, and Kenji Sugino, Secretary-General, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII) among other dignitaries.
As many as 70 Japanese diplomats, top corporate executives and entrepreneurs, and 38 senior Indian bureaucrats and industry leaders joined the event.

A team of ACN Editorial Advisory Board led by Sanjeev K Ahuja, Editor-in-Chief, Asian Community News (ACN) Network, and Prakash Yadav, Member, of the ACN Editorial Advisory Board recently visited the JCCII office in New Delhi to discuss the event with Kenji Sugino san, Secretary-General – an avid golfer.
Many senior bureaucrats from the top government organizations including Niti Ayog (formerly known as Planning Commission), India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited, Northern Railways, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Defence, and many others are likely to attend the event.
The one-day event that is being organized at the 18-hole Golden Greens Golf Club in Gurugram will be followed by an award ceremony and networking dinner the same evening.
The event offers an excellent opportunity for Indian industry leaders and bureaucrats to interact closely with top Japanese counterparts who are likely to join the event.
The 70th Anniversary India-Japan Friendship Golf Cup aims to contribute and be a part of the ongoing 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
“It also aims at creating awareness among the Indian government, bureaucracy, and corporate world (especially the SMEs) about the importance of affinity with the Japanese counterparts. Other objectives include promoting Incubation for Japanese small and medium enterprises in India, promoting collaborations between Japanese and Indian companies, promoting skilling in India for AI artificial intelligence, automation, and soft skilling, Indo-Japanese ties both in the commercial and cultural domains, and also contributing to the development of Japanese business in northeast India,” said Sanjeev K Ahuja.
