Gurugram. Elections after elections, the 93-year-old Dropti Nagpal – a senior citizen of Sector 14 continues to discharge her electoral duty and cast her vote.
Barely a few months later when she braved hot weather and walked to the polling station in the vicinity of her home to cast her vote during parliamentary elections, Dropti Nagpal was again out on October 21 to do the same, this time in Haryana assembly polls.
While maintaining her own unbreakable record of casting vote in all Indian elections – general or assembly, since Independence, Dropti Nagpal continues to set an example of sorts especially for those who set out for picnics or stay glued to televisions sets in the cozy comfort of their homes and don’t exercise their voting right.
Unlike last time, however, when she led the entire family including her grandchildren, Dropti Nagpal this time accompanied with her son Dr. Sanjeev Nagpal (63) – a veteran pediatrician, and his wife Dr. Lata Nagpal – a seniormost gynaecologist, to the polling booth earmarked at Government Middle School in the locality.
Going for a walk every morning, participating in religious events like Amrit Vaani and Sukhmani, and also in social gatherings on a regular basis, is the way of life for Dropti Nagpal
Her healthy food habits include light breakfast but after a cup of tea with almonds and biscuits, then follows lunch with a single chapati etc.
“My mother needs no medicines as she does not suffer from any age-specific ailments like blood pressure and sugar. However, she takes vitamin D and B complex and calcium pills only. She also washes and irons her own clothes so that she remains active at this age,” said Dr. Sanjeev Nagpal.
