Dr. MORI, Special Advisor to Japanese Premier completes his 5-day action-packed visit to India
Before flying back to Japan along with his high-level delegation, Dr. MORI also participated in the 74th Republic Day celebration parade on January 26 in New Delhi.
NEW DELHI/SURAT: Following his 5-day action-packed visit to India, Dr. MORI Masafumi, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan FUMIO Kishida, and his delegation left for Japan on Thursday evening.
During this visit, Dr. MORI not only participated in the 74th Republic Day parade event in New Delhi on January 26, he also visited Surat in Gujarat to oversee the progress of under-construction Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project, travelled the Delhi Metro train before meeting the Indian external affairs minister Dr. S Jaishankar, Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi. SUZUKI Hiroshi, Ambassador of Japan in India accompanied the delegation in all these meetings.
The main purposes of the visit was the 15th Joint Committee Meeting of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project on January 25. Dr. Mori is also the co-chairman of the Joint Committee Meeting for this project
Dr. MORI Masafumi along with his delegation reached Delhi on January 22, and headed for Surat the next day. Taking to Twitter, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki said, “Gladly returned to the construction site of HSR in Surat with Dr. Masafumi MORI, Special Adviser to the Japanese PM. Delighted to witness the actual progress of the construction with him on site.”
On January 24, the Japanese delegation returned to Delhi where it attend a dinner hosted by High-Speed Rail Corporation of India. The next day Dr. Mori and the delegation called on Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways at his office.
“Agendas for sustainable infra development with efficient collaboration have been discussed in the presence of senior officials,” tweeted Nitin Gadkari.
Both sides exchanged views and opinions in the field of Road Transport and Logistics service-related road infrastructure and deliberated upon capacity development and technology sharing in the field of sustainable transport development, alternate clean and green fuel, and development of innovative transit technologies for movement of passenger and cargo. Emphasis was laid on India-Japan sustainable development initiative for the North-East region of India along with North-East Road Network connectivity improvement projects.
The meeting paved the way for strengthening India’s continued partnership and collaboration with Japan for deriving effective solutions to contemporary challenges in Transportation and Logistics, based on the firm foundation of both countries’ shared values and convergence of interests in strategic and economic matters. Following this, the delegation led by Dr. Mori and Ambassador SUZUKI reached Delhi Metro Central Secretariat Station to board the train on Yellow Line and traveled till Delhi Metro Patel Chowk Station.

Convinced that its comfort and safety along with the steady network expansion is the hallmark of our flagship Japan’s ODA project. #JapanIndia,” tweeted Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki after enjoying the ride.
The delegation then met Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, and Meeting with Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways.
“Glad to meet Dr. Masafumi Mori, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan. Our discussion focused on the impact of Japanese technology on India’s growth and progress. The High Speed Rail project can make an even bigger difference than the Metro and Suzuki collaboration. We also exchanged views on the opportunities for the two countries to collaborate in third markets,” tweeted Dr. Jaishankar after the meeting.
On 26 January, the last day his visit Dr. MORI along with Ambassador SUZUKI and his wife Eiko SUZUKI participated the 74th Republic Day celebration parade in New Delhi.
Taking to Twittter, Ambassador SUZUKI said, “My heartiest greetings to all Indian people on the occasion of the 74th #RepublicDay of India. Today, I was fascinated by the cultural diversity of India by attending the grand and wonderful parade. #JapanIndia.”
