ACN Founder & Editor Sanjeev K Ahuja elected as National Vice-President, Web Journalists Assn of India – WJAI
News24 Associate Editor Amitabh Ojha was elected as the second National General Secretary along with Dr. Amit Ranjan. Anand Kaushal was re-elected as President. Sanjeev K Ahuja would also head the Haryana and Punjab states.
PATNA: Veteran journalist and communication professional with over 25 years of journalism & corporate communication experience Sanjeev K. Ahuja has been elected as National Vice-President of the Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI). The Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Community News (ACN) Network, Sanjeev K Ahuja was also accorded the responsibility of representing Haryana and Punjab states. He was inducted into the national executive committee of India’s apex body of web journalists and online news channels WJAI during the recent election for the new office bearers held in Patna (Bihar). Earlier, he also owned the responsibility of National Spokesperson, WJAI.
Amitabh Ojha, Associate Editor of the national news channel News24 was elected as the second National General Secretary. Senior journalist Anand Kaushal who has been the President of WJAI since its inception, was reelected as President for the 3rd time in a row. Dr. Amit Ranjan was also re-elected as National General Secretary.
The WJAI is a Web Journalists’ Standards Authority (WJSA) of news publishers registered as a Self-Regulatory Body by (SRB) the Union Information & Broadcasting Ministry of India under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Codes) Rules 2021. The WJAI managing committee comprises a High Court Justice (Retd), senior journalists, bureaucrats and educationists. Veteran editor and former Secretary-General of the Editors Guild of India N K Singh is the chief patron of WJAI.
Sanjeev K Ahuja is also a member of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia (FCC), an affiliate of the International Association of Press Clubs with 40 clubs in 30 countries. He also represents the Media Federation of India (MFI) as Vice President (Asia), is an Advisory Board Member of Indian Students & Researchers in Korea (ISRK), Seoul, and also advises Konnichiwa Japan Club (KJC). Ahuja is also the Governing Board Member of India Republic of Korea Friendship Society (IRKFS) headed by Skand R Tayal, former Ambassador to South Korea.
Mr. Ahuja is a Media and communication professional with over 25 years of hardcore journalism experience working with mainstream media publications like the Hindustan Times, where he was in various leadership roles i.e. Bureau Chief and Senior Asst. Editor during his 13-year stint in New Delhi/NCR. Besides other publications, he also worked with English Daily ‘The Pioneer’ for five years.
In 2019 Mr. Ahuja founded the Asian Community News Network (ACN Network) – a Media House reporting Indo-East Asian affairs with a special focus on Japan, South Korea, and other East Asian countries, and ASEAN members. ACN also publishes a monthly news magazine.
WJAI also organized India’s first-ever ‘Web Media Summit 2023’ in Patna on October 28. It was inaugurated by Bihar Information and Public Relations Minister Sanjay Jha, Former General Secretary of Editors Guild and Patron of Association N. K. Singh, and media veterans Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Dwivedi, former Director General of IIMC, in the presence of the country’s top media personalities hailing from well-known media outlets – Network 18, Zee News, ABP Network & ABPLive.com, News Nation, TV-9, Nav Bharat Times Digital, Punjab Kesari, and others.
The prominent media figures included Brajesh Kumar Singh Group Editor, Network 18 Group, Pankaj Singh – Editor, Alok Mishra, the editor of Jagran, Sanjay Tripathi, editor of Rashtriya Sahara, TV9 executive editor Pankaj Singh, Praveen Jha of Punjab Kesari, Rajeev Kamal, Editor of News Gathering, and Gyaneshwar, Editor of Live Cities.

The next day “Web Media Summit 2023” on Oct 29, there followed a General Body Meeting under the stewardship of the Board of Presidents comprising National President Anand Kaushal, National Vice President Dr. Madho Singh, and News24 Associate Editor Amitabh Ojha to elect new executive body. The WJAI unanimously nominated renowned doctor Dr. Satyajit K Singh of Ruban Memorial Hospital nominated as the Board of Patrons.
Manjesh Kumar the former office secretary was elected to the post of National Treasurer, WJAI. Chandan Kumar, Suraj, and Vivek Kumar were elected to three posts of National Secretaries, Dr. Madho Singh, Sanjeev K Ahuja, and Dr. Leena were elected to three posts of Vice Presidents. Dheeraj Kumar was elected to the post of Office Secretary.
Out of five posts of the National Joint Secretary, Mithilesh Mishra, Nalini Bhardwaj, and Shailendra Jha were elected on three posts while two posts were kept vacant. Out of 23 posts of National Executive Member, Gautam Giriyak, Ram Balak Rai, Sanjay Kumar Pandey, Nishant Raj, Chandan Kumar Chanchal, Rajeev Ranjan, Abdul Hakim, Azad Kumar Bharti, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Amit Kumar were elected on 10 posts while 13 posts were left vacant.
The responsibility of Delhi State President was given to Pankaj Prasun, Haryana, and Punjab state President to Sanjeev Ahuja, and Bihar State President to Bal Krishna Kumar. Alok Kumar Singh and Sangeeta Sinha were elected as Vice Presidents, Bihar, Anup Narayan Singh as General Secretary, Aditya Kumar as State Secretary, and Rita Singh was elected as Treasurer.
