Indian Envoy to Japan Sibi George visits Japanese companies in Sri City, AP
Ambassador visited the production units of Panasonic and Daikin, two among the 30 Japanese companies that have their manufacturing facilities in Sri City. He also held a meeting with the CEOs of Japanese companies.
SRI CITY (Tirupati): India’s Ambassador to Japan Sibi George visited Sri City today, and received a detailed overview of the key features that make Sri City a leading business destination for the foreign companies especially the Japanese. R. Shivashankar, Senior Vice President, Sri City highlighted Sri City’s robust infrastructure, favourable business environment, aspects that continue to fuel the remarkable growth and add to the attraction of investors from across the world and industries.
“Currently, Sri City houses 220 companies representing 30 nations, with Japanese enterprises comprising a substantial number, thus making us the second-largest Japanese Industrial Township (JIT) in India. At present close to 30 Japanese companies call Sri City home. Furthermore, a thriving Japanese expatriate community underscores our commitment to fostering cultural integration and bolstering infrastructure to attract and nurture Japanese investment,” Shivshankar explained.
The Ambassador went around the Business City which includes an SEZ, a DTZ, an EMC and a FTWZ. He correspondingly visited the production units of Panasonic and Daikin, two among the many giants that have their manufacturing facilities in Sri City. The ambassador held a luncheon meeting with the CEOs of Japanese companies in Sri City.
Impressed by Sri City’s world-class industrial infrastructure and excellently designed social infrastructure, Ambassador Sibi George acknowledged Sri City’s status as a premier business destination in the country. He emphasized upon the positive impact that the development of Japanese Industrial Townships (JIT) has had, thus leading to the growth of amenities tailored to the needs Japanese expats.
Noting that several of the existing industrial units have gone for plant expansions, he appreciated the ecosystem existent for different manufacturing sectors. He affirmed his commitment to a mission-driven strategy focused on enhancing Japan’s footprint in the Indian business space and thereby ushering in greater investments from Japan. Ambassador George pledged to actively advocate Sri City’s potential to Japanese investors.
Reflecting on the visit, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador on his visit and acknowledged that the ambassador’s insights and recommendations would help attract more investments. He looked forward to leveraging the Ambassador’s support to further boost investments from Japan.
