16 South Korean companies in agri, farming & food processing sector reach India to find partners

Agri Intex 2024 hosts the Korean delegation focused on enhancing Indian farming through technology and collaboration

COIMBATORE (TAMIL NADU): Exhibiting their desire to find suitable partners in India, sixteen South Korean companies recently visited Coimbatore and closely interacted with the Indian companies in agriculture and food processing sector, Indian farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and agriculture cooperative societies.

The delegation comprised Dr. Jonghyun Ko, Head of Research and Business Development for Indian Projects KOAT (Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency), and Korean companies specialising in the field of agriculture machinery, echo friendly fertilizer and food processing machinery manufacturers attended the Agri Intex 2024 at Codessia Trade Fair Complex July 11-15 in Coimbatore.

LeeHwa Industry, a food processing machinery manufacturer, signed a partnership with an Indian company at the trade fair.

The delegation supported by KOAT and KAMICO (Korea Agriculture Machinery Industry Cooperative) was organized by Calvin Yi, Chairman of Wevio Global Group (KAMICO INDIA) and Ambassador of Korea Business Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) for India and USA.

The delegation expressed interest in exploring the opportunities to develop various project that help farmers welfare, rural development and industry growth between India and Korea.

Purpose of the delegation was to establish bilateral trade relationship with India and to enhance farm mechanization and post-harvest value addition through food processing.

Calvin Yi said that Wevio Global Group was doing this business development for one reason! Increase Indian farmer’s additional incomes through technology, best farming practice and machinery by working with state and central government organizations, associations, institutions of research and finance of India for subsidiaries and grants to support farmers. Wevio Global Group wants to do MoU with FPOs, FPO federations, agricultural societies, NGOs and also partnership with financial groups in India like Samunnati, Rural Banks and many others.

KAMICO INDIA is actively working with India agriculture echo system partners from other government and private sector to bring best Korean technologies coming to India to serve local needs and also global demands through ‘Make in India’ with Korea proven R&D and technology.

He said that initiatives were not only helping empowerment of rural development and also industry growth between India and Korea.

Korea is one of the leading countries for agriculture R&D and Technology which is required by the emerging economies like India for producing and processing to global requirements. With a vision of commercializing the most innovative agriculture technologies through India as hub for agriculture and manufacturing products for global.

KAMICO INDIA is working with KOAT for the Test Bed projects from 2019 for validating the fertilizer, farm machinery and food processing machinery to ensure the suitability for the Indian Agro Climatic zones which will help bring the right technology and products to Indian agriculture and food processing Industry.
