Assam’s Education Minister to launch 3rd India-Japan Education Conclave

The Conclave Aims to Strengthen Indo-Japan Academic Ties and Foster Global Educational Opportunities

Pune, Maharashtra – The 3rd India-Japan Education Conclave is set to take place on 28th September 2024 at Cotton University in Guwahati, Assam. This significant event will be inaugurated by Dr. Ranoj Pegu, the Minister of Education of Assam, and will provide a platform for students, educators, researchers, and policymakers to explore educational, research, and career opportunities between India and Japan.

Organized by the Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC) in collaboration with Cotton University and Vivekanand Kendra, the conclave is recognized by the Embassy of Japan as part of Japan Month 2024. The event will bring together key stakeholders from both nations, with the aim of strengthening educational and cultural ties, fostering collaboration in technology, research, and innovation.

In addition to Dr. Pegu, several distinguished guests will attend the event, including Prof. Dr. Ramesh Ch. Deka, Vice Chancellor of Cotton University, and Siddharth Deshmukh, President of the Indo-Japan Business Council. Representatives from the Embassy of Japan and Japan Foundation will also be present. Notably, four Japanese universities and vocational schools will be featured, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with these institutions and learn more about study opportunities in Japan.

With over 791 registered participants from the North East Region (as of 6th September 2024), the conclave is expected to generate widespread interest in educational exchanges and professional opportunities in Japan. A significant 78% of participants have expressed interest in studying or working in Japan, with 40% particularly focused on research collaborations. Moreover, 58% of participants have shown enthusiasm for learning the Japanese language, underscoring the growing interest in building language skills to enhance educational and career prospects.

The event will also showcase Japanese traditional arts, anime, and pop culture, providing attendees with a unique cultural experience. By connecting students and educators from the North East Region of India with global opportunities, the conclave aims to position the region as a hub for international educational collaboration.

In his statement, Dr. Ranoj Pegu has said, “The 3rd India-Japan Education Conclave is a proud moment for Assam. It will provide our students with unique global opportunities and help strengthen the bond between India and Japan.”

Siddharth Deshmukh, President of IJBC, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “This conclave is a stepping stone to building stronger academic and cultural bridges between India and Japan. We look forward to creating long-term partnerships that will benefit students, educators, and both nations.”
