Join K-Classic Music Concert to Commemorate 12 Years of Korean Cultural Centre India
World-class Korean artists to perform timeless classics and “Jai Ho” in a musical extravaganza on December 10-11, 2024.
New Delhi – The Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) is set to mark its 12th anniversary with the K-Classic Music Concert, a two-day celebration of music, culture, and artistry, on December 10 and 11, 2024.
This special event will feature an extraordinary trio of musicians from the Korea Philharmonic Orchestra, who will bring to life a collection of classical masterpieces while sharing captivating stories behind each composition.
The concert will present a thoughtfully curated repertoire, including works by Edward Elgar, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johannes Brahms, and Dmitri Shostakovich, along with the soulful Arirang Fantasy.
Adding an Indian touch to the celebration, the trio will perform a unique rendition of A.R. Rahman’s iconic song “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire.
The trio includes Kim Pil Kyun, the first concertmaster chair of the Korea Philharmonic Orchestra, known for his technical precision and expressive playing. Accompanying him will be Ryu In Kyung, a celebrated pianist recognized for her emotive and innovative interpretations, and Kim Min Jung, a renowned violinist who leads the An die Musik Philharmonia Orchestra and is one of the founding members of the Daejeon Chamber Music Society.
Over 70 minutes, the audience will experience a journey through diverse compositions, ranging from Elgar’s Salut D’amour and Mozart’s Alla Turca to Brahms’s Intermezzo and Shostakovich’s Prelude, Gavotte, and Polka.
The performance will also feature Dvořák’s Humoresque, Rimsky Korsakov’s Chanson Arabe, Fritz Kreisler’s Liebesfreud and Liebesleid, and Vittorio Monti’s electrifying Czardas.
Scheduled to take place at the Korean Cultural Centre India’s Auditorium, the event will run from 12:00 to 13:10 on both days. This anniversary celebration aims to not only highlight the universality of music but also strengthen cultural ties by merging Western classics with Indian and Korean influences.
Admission is free, but seating is limited, so early registration is advised. The K-Classic Music Concert promises to be a memorable blend of tradition, innovation, and musical brilliance, offering an opportunity for audiences to experience the transformative power of music firsthand.
