Shanghai: In a clear manifestation of the fact that increasing number of people in China are embracing Yoga, a large number of people participated in the grand Yoga session organized on the occasion of the 5th United Nations International Day of Yoga in Shanghai, China on June 21.
Those participated in the event besides the common populace included Consul General of India in Shanghai, President of the World Cultural Congress, President of the International Alliance of Yoga “One World one Sutra”, Consul General of Venezuela, Consul General of Costa Rica, Consul General of Sri Lanka, Consul General of Japan, Consul of Israel, Consul General of Turkey, Brahmakumaris World Spiritual University, Former Vice Minister of Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of All-China Journalists Association, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, Centre of Indian Studies, Fudan University, and other politicians and businessmen.
India-based Braham Kumaris (BK) Omshanti Retreat Centre (ORC) that organised the mega event runs Happy Homes, Peace Homes, and Spiritual Clinics in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and others in China.
BK Sister Sapna who is spearheading activities in China practiced spirituality for 15 years in India before moving to China in 2013 when she set up centers in Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Interestingly, the Beijing center is run by a Chinese sister who had once visited BK ORC in India and went back to set up a center in Beijing.
