Chinese lithium-ion giant hunting for 7 Million Sq. Feet space in India for its factory

GURUGRAM (Gurgaon). The Haryana Government has said that a large Chinese company manufacturing lithium-ion batteries has exhibited its interest in setting up its manufacturing facility in its state.

The company which is looking for a huge chunk of land measuring about 160 acres (7 Million square feet), has proposed to offer employment opportunities to about 4000 people in the state, said the officials.

The representatives of this Chinese company Ningde Amperex Technology Limited met Gurugram Divisional Commissioner Ashok Sangwan recently. Pawan Choudhary of Invest India, that organized the meeting and M K Sardana (BIPP), HSIIDC were also present on this occasion.

The Haryana officials claimed that after the popularity of Haryana’s Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) model that fetched the state 3rd position in the country and first in northern India, many countries from around the world are searching for opportunities to invest in Haryana.

A press statement issued by the public relations department of Haryana Government stated that the Chinese company is the manufacturer of advanced high-volume quality products of rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery cells, packs and system integration.

The company is looking for 160 acres of land (7 million square feet) for its advanced technology project for manufacturing of Lithium-Ion Battery, which can be used in E-Vehicles in Haryana, it further stated.

According to the officials, the company plans to offer more than 4000 new jobs with a huge investment in the coming 3 years.

The Divisional Commissioner advised the company delegation to visit the sites at Kharkhoda ( Sonepat ) near Delhi and Hisar for their upcoming project.

Sangwan told the delegation that Haryana is now ranked third in Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in India and it is on the top in North Indian states. The state government acts proactively in giving NOCs and Consents required for setting up industry here.

The Haryana state has been divided into four categories of Development Blocks viz. A, B, C, and D.

He said that D-category blocks are 41 in number where there is no large and medium unit at present. In addition, in B, C & D-category blocks, special incentives were being provided for the thrust areas/focus clusters ( i.e. 46 textiles and food processing) industry utilizing raw material produced in the State and to rural functional clusters ( i.e. footwear / dairy / apparel ) which are employment-intensive and will be propagated with generation of large scale employment in rural areas.

State industrial corridors have been planned like Manufacturing and industrial corridors planned to leverage Special incentives were being given for the creation of mega projects at par with fiscal incentives in extremely backward blocks (D Category), Sangwan added.
