[EXCLUSIVE] Indian Feature Film Jai Shri Ram to be shot in Fiji; launch at Cannes Film Fest
Ashok Tyagi who has directed Surkhiyaan, Retrun of Jewel Thief, Bharat Bhagya Vidhata and Rajesh Khanna’s last movie of his life Riyasat, is the director of the film.
NEW DELHI: Soon, probably during the 73rd Cannes Film Festival in France next year, the global audience will witness the launch of a feature film titled Jai Shri Ram.
To be shot by the Indian Bollywood filmmakers largely outdoor in the jungles of Fiji – a country in the South Pacific with 300 islands, the film has a moderate budget of INR 100 Million.
These jungles provide the ideal situation for shooting the Banvaas (Exile) of Lord Rama, the main character of the film, the filmmakers have said.
The making of this film also gains importance as the term ‘Jai Shri Ram’ remained popular ever since the BJP-led government took reins of India in the year 2014.
“The film would amply exhibit the vastness of Indian peninsula in the ancient time when India was spread throughout Southeast Asia starting from Mayanmar, Vietnam, Jawa, Somitra and farther. The word Ram has 113 different versions like Rama, Ramaiya, Ramona, Ramo, Rangi, many more and wherever Ram went, its name kept on changing,” Sandeep Marwah, the noted film personality behind the making of the film told Asian Community News (ACN) Network. He holds the distinction of producing 1800, the maximum number of short films in the world.
Marwah disclosed that noted Bollywood director Ashok Tyagi who had had to his credit films like Surkhiyaan, Return of Jewel Thief, Bharat Bhagya Vidhata and Rajesh Khanna’s last movie of his life Riyasat, was directing it.
Ashok Tyagi said that it’s an international level feature film with lyrics and screenplay based on the great epic Ramcharitra Manas that has mention of Ram, Sita, and Lakshaman.
“It’s being produced under the banner of International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) led by Sandeep Marwah. Noted musicians Anand Milan have given music while it is being shot by national award-winning cinematographer Nadim Khan,” Tyagi told ACN Network.
About the cast, Tyagi said that he had picked up new faces but good actors with no set image to affect the character of Ram who was sent on Banwas when he was 16 only.
“Shooting is going to happen in the beautiful jungles of Fiji, and the film will incur a budgetary expenditure of Rs. 10 crores as most of the shooting will happen outdoor in jungles. The likely release of the film is in May during Cannes Film Festival,” he added.
