Korea rushes oxygen concentrators, cylinders, stretchers to New Delhi on Sunday.
The supplies will be donated to the Indian Red Cross Society.
NEW DELHI: The first consignment of the medical supplies from South Korea, containing oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders with regulators, and negative pressure isolation stretchers arrived at IGI Airport, New Delhi on Sunday.
This is a batch of the medical supplies Korea has promised to rush to India with 230 oxygen concentrators, 200 oxygen cylinders with regulators, and 100 negative pressure isolation stretchers to fight the surging COVID-19 cases.
Shin Bongkil, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India along with the Srinivas Gotru, UNES Division, Joint Secretary, and a representative from the Indian Red Cross Society reached the airport on Sunday to formally receive the medical supplies.
The supplies will be donated to the Indian Red Cross Society.
The next supply is likely to reach New Delhi on May 12, Wednesday.
On receiving the urgent medical supplies, Ambassador Shin Bongkil, said “I hope this supply will be helpful to ease the COVID-19 emergency situation in India. The Korean government will continue to work closely with the Indian Government in responding to the unfolding challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic”.
A press release from the ROK Embassy stated, “The Republic of Korea stands shoulder to shoulder with India in this hour of crisis. These 1st and 2nd consignments of medical items account for around 20% of the whole support plan, and Korea will send more medical supplies as soon as it secures the supplies and flight schedule.”
