As many as 30 photographs depicting the myriad facets of Japan ranging from beautiful scenery, green landscapes, traditionally rich culture to the latest technology and modern architecture were displayed at the Photo Exhibition held at India International Center (IIC) on December 7-14.
These prize-winning photographs were clicked by the Indian visitors travelling to Japan in recent time and were later included in The Click Japan Photo Contest, that had received 397 entries.
The Embassy of Japan in India and India International Center (IIC) jointly organized the photo exhibition at latter’s the Quadrangle Garden where it attracted a huge crowd of the visitors.
Entry to the exhibition was free for the visitors.
Some of the photographs were titled as The Sunset that tells story of 1000 years (1st prize) clicked by Amit K Shrivastava, The humble stationmaster (2nd prize) by Gauri Talwar, the Shinkansen – one of the world’s fastest trains (3rd prize) by Puneet K Singh, Monk style dinner at Koyasan (4th prize) by Deepak Gandotra, The “Oishil – the tasty food of Japan (5th prize) by Anil K Sharma, Small Biddhist Jizo (Bodhisattva) statues (6th prize) by Mithilesh K Singh, Colours of Japan (7th prize) by Puneet Sihag, Do it Gundam style (8th prize) by Shellly Airan, Amazed @Mount Fuji (9th prize) by Rekha Jain and Fuji Shibazakura Garden (10th prize) by K Bidyarani Devi.
Other photographs displayed were titled as Beautiful Flamingoes in Ueno Zoo, Ashok Chakra in Japan and many more.
Some other photographs carried Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima which a well-known among Japanese is one of the best three scenic views in Japan.
Other photograph captured Kiyomizu-zaka street which is amazing blend of old school charm with modern décor inside shops on this cobbled street in Kiyomizu region (Kyoto).
Earlier in September, the Click! Japan Photo Contest that is an annual event was co-organized by the Embassy of Japan and Japan Foundation, New Delhi, and supported by camera producing company Canon India and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Delhi Office.
Ten award-winning photos of this contest and some other beautifully clicked photographs were displayed at this contest at IIC.
IIC where the exhibition is being held was founded on the model of the International House of Japan and has a deep connection with Japan. In November, 1960, Their Imperial Highnesses the Crown Prince and Crown Princess (currently Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress) laid the foundation stone of IIC.
In September, the top 10 contestants, whose entries were shortlisted as the best ones among 397photos, were invited to attend the award distribution ceremony held at the residence of Japanese to India Kenji Hiramatsu.
