International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar (India) which is one of the independent Testing Agencies for testing and certification of automobiles and their safety critical components, has join hands with Korea Intelligent Automotive Parts & Promotion Institute (KIAPI), Korea to work jointly in the field of future technologies.
KIAPI (Korea Intelligent Automotive Part Promotion Institute) is a vehicle testing institute, located in Daegu, South Korea, which supports parts suppliers, vehicle manufacturers & research institutes for developing next generation automotive technology.
KIAPI is actively working on the development & validation of next generation vehicles.
ICAT which was constituted under Rule 126 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) notified by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Govt. of India for Testing & Certification of Automobiles and their safety critical components, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KIAPI on January 22 in Daegu City of South Korea.
This MoU was signed by Dinesh Tyagi, Director (ICAT) and MyungHo Sung, President (KIAPI).
ICAT, Manesar has signed this MoU to support Korean Automotive Industry for Indian Certification of safety critical components as well vehicles.
As a result of this MoU, ICAT has demonstrated a high level of orientation towards providing its services globally by supporting overseas automotive manufacturers. Apart from Indian certification, as per various Indian & Automotive Industry Standards (AIS), ICAT will collaborate with KIAPI, Korea in the field of future technologies e.g. autonomous driving, electric vehicles, connected transportation, fuel cell vehicles, ADAS etc
“We look forward to a long term business relationship with Korean Industry through KIAPI. We envisage more collaboration with KIAPI beyond Indian certification. We would like to collaborate with KIAPI for Research oriented projects in the field of emerging & future technologies”, said Dinesh Tyagi (Director, ICAT) during MoU signing ceremony.
MyungHo Sung, President (KIAPI) said that “We have state-of-the-art proving grounds & expertise to develop advanced technologies in the field of automotive. So, after signing MoU with ICAT, both the organizations will be able to provide services of certification as well as research & development. This will also help Korean automotive industry to collaborate with Indian automotive industry through the services of ICAT”.
Enhancing awareness about future technologies in India & supporting Govt. of India for the formulation of regulations and creating testing Infrastructure within the country will also be two major focus areas of this MoU.
