China, India celebrate beginning of Chinese New Year

Indian Commerce and Industry minister Suresh Prabhu joined Luo Zhaohui,the Chinese Ambassador to India to commemorate the launch of Chinese New Year celebration festivities in India recently at Siri Fort auditorium on January 25.

In 2019, the first day of the Lunar New Year will be on Tuesday,February 5, initiating the Year of the pig on traditional Chinese calendar.

Although the New Year is celebrated all over the world on the first day of the calendar year, but the spring Festival falling on the 1st day of the 1st Lunar month is the most important festival for the Chinese people, on this day the Chinese people Celebrate as New Year.

The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21 January and 20 February.

It originated in the Shang Dynasty (c.1600 BC – c.1100 BC) from the people’s sacrifice to Gods and Ancestors at the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one.

On this occasion The People’s Republic of China, in coordination with the CD Foundation, organized the Chinese New Year Celebration at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.

The purpose of the annual “Happy Chinese New Year” program supported by Ministry of Culture and Tourism Of China is to convey the Joy,friendship and auspicious wishes of Chinese people to their friends all over the world.

The program started with the lamp lighting by the Chief Guest, Suresh Prabhu, Honorable Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Luo Zhaohui, H.E. Chinese Ambassador to India.

On this occasion hundreds of people along with members of the foreign diplomatic corps, the foreign correspondents in India and the Indian Foreign Service Officers were present in the program. Chief guest Suresh Prabhu gave a lot of good wishes to all the Chinese brothers in the New Year.

On the occasion of the Chinese New Year celebration, cultural programs showcased the best of Chinese music and dance. The splendid Art and Culture of Inner Mongolia of China to Indian People was the main point
of attraction.
Acrobatic troupe of Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupe attracted viewers by their amazing acrobatics performances.

The performance of artists of many Chinese artists has caught the attention of all the audience. Cultural program was also presented by the Indian artist at the function.
