- GIC believes Micro, Small, & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) hold the key to turning India into a $5 trillion economy by 2025.
NEW DELHI. March 17, 2022: With an express intent to kick start the long-term transformation in MSME sector, the Global India Collaborative (GIC) is taking a high power delegation of industrialists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers including Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and media persons to Dubai World Expo 2021-22.
Led by GIC’s Global President Santosh Mangal and India President Ashok Buwaniwala, the 4-day business tour to Dubai is scheduled to take off from March 25. The six-month-long Dubai World Expo concludes on March 31, 2022.
The delegation will include BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Vivek Gupta (MLA and former TMC MP), Brijesh Mishra Saurabh (Former MLA), Dr Ved Pratap Vaidic (Founder editor of PTI’s Hindi service Bhasha), Saroj Saraogi, Nidheesh Tyagi (Former BBC Editor and GIC’s director media initiative), Vandana Singh (ex-vice chairpersons ASSOCHEM, GIC Women Empowerment Initiative), Sanjeev K Ahuja (ACN Network , GIC Director MSME initiative), Manoj Mathur (Zee News, GIC Media initiative), Amit Gupta (President RJUVS) among others.
The BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi said, “Our government is determined to make India a $5 trillion economy by 2025. I would be using the Dubai World Expo forum to convince global investors and businessmen to come and invest in India and promote our MSMEs. I am confident that this is going to be a very fruitful initiative.”
During the four-day tour (March 25-28), the delegation will conduct extensive parleys with business representatives, trade associations, and ambassadors of those 12 countries that make up for 80% of India’s global trade and FDI. These countries include Singapore, the US, the UK, Dubai, Brazil, South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Mauritius, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Renowned journalist Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik said, “It’s time for the world to revive the sputtering process of globalisation. India is at the heart of the new economy movement and offer economies of scale. Dubai World Expo 2021-22 will help us showcase India in a powerful and positive light.”
GIC believes Micro, Small, & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) hold the key to turning India into a $5 trillion economy by 2025.
Former MLA Brijesh Mishra Saurabh said, “Global hunt to find an alternative to China offers India a tremendous once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attract global capital and technology at a grand scale. We should leave no stone unturned to capitalise on this opportunity and this is what we are going to do in Dubai.”
Vanda Singh, former ASSOCHEM vice-president said, “The sector can make the country Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) in manufacturing, tackle the unemployment genie, and create a dynamic and globally competitive industrial innovation eco-system. It also has tremendous potential to empower women by offering largescale equity in India’s growth story.”
Ashok Buwaniwala, India President, GIC, said, “MSMEs need an infusion of finance, technology and global best practices on a scale of the European Reconstruction under Marshall Plan just after the World War II, to galvanise 6.5 crore MSMEs in the country. This presents a global opportunity for investments and technology transfer. GIC is determined to bring both to India.”
In a post-pandemic (COVID-19) world where business is sluggish and a once-in-a-five-year event, the Dubai World Expos with 192 nations participants and a motto, “connecting minds, creating the future” offers a great opportunity to explore business alliances and investment sources.
Expo managers offer every country to choose from three main themes – opportunity, mobility, and sustainability. Incidentally, India has chosen an “opportunity” theme that gels perfectly well with our vast potential.
Nidheesh Tyagi said, “Opportunity is meaningless without inclusivity and MSMEs offer the first platform for rural migrants to connect with the industrial society. So in a way it’s a finishing ground for the uninitiated to arrive, rest, prepare and then easily slip into the urban life. To me MSMEs act as a transit point in human transition.”
Santosh Mangal, Global President, GIC, said, “India is the story of the 21st century. We will be showcasing our country’s tremendous potential to the world and bring back the world’s finances, technology, and best practices to our country.”
Vivek Gupta, TMC MLA, added, “The COVID-19 pandemic and its resurgence in China in recent days has once again brought the need for democratising and localising supply chains in sharp focus. Our vast MSME network can jumpstart the process of localising critical value production. And this is what our pitch would be at Dubai World Expo.”
GIC is a Section 8 Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) with a global footprint in 12 nations. It is acting as a platform enabling India to achieve the goal of $5 trillion GDP. The nine sectors it is working in include Industry (with an emphasis on MSMEs), Education, Health, Justice, Women Empowerment, Media, Environment, Ethics, and volunteerism. Driven by integrity, insight, and vision based on ground realities, GIC vows to make a sustainable, measurable, and verifiable positive impact on our society, culture, and business ecosystems by creating a synergy between people, planet, and profit.
