Exhibition “TOHOKU – Through the Eyes of Japanese Photographers starts at Japan Foundation New Delhi
The exhibition at Tenshin Okakura Gallery marks the opening of the Japan Foundation for the Japan-loving people after a wait of two years as it was closed due to Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
NEW DELHI. At a moderate ceremony of distinguished personalities from the Japanese and Indian communities, the exhibition “TOHOKU – Through the Eyes of Japanese Photographers“ was launched at the Japan Foundation on Friday.
An invitation-only preview was held on the evening of April 22nd, when a lamp was lit to celebrate the opening of the exhibition.
The exhibition that opened to for the public viewing on April 23rd continues till May 21st.
Japan Foundation New Delhi (JFND) has already announce to open its facility for the public after a wait of almost two years when it was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Finally, JFND turns to active life, and the place is going to be a busy with the visitors who love and admire Japan, age-old and rich its art and culture.
The exhibition has on display the photographs of Tohoku (Northeast region of Japan) curated by Kotaro IIZAWA who is recognized as the leading expert of photography critics in Japan. This exhibition is composed of the work of nine individual photographers and one photographers’ group.
By presenting the viewpoints of highly individualistic photographers who represent the past, present, and future, this exhibition aims to enhance understanding of culture, climate, and life in Tohoku to the people of the world.
An exhibition “TOHOKU-Through the Eyes of Japanese Photographers was thrown open at the Tenshin Okakura Gallery to continue till May 21.
To make the opening it’s facility, the JFND has already been organising several cultural events such as “Meet the Author Pallavi Aiyar Talk on ‘Orienting: an Indian in Japan” on April 16. The event was held in virtual mode through the Zoom platform.
However, to ensure the safety of all visitors, several preventive measures are being taken to minimize the risk of infection such as ventilation, sanitization and other facilities. As a result, the library will take online appointments in advance and set a limit on the number of people staying of one time.
Also IFND would make sure of complying with the SOPs of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and wearing of masks is compulsory for all visitors.
