June 11: Korean classic “Yun Posan House Concert” set to enthrall Indian audience virtually
NEW DELHI: The Korean Cultural Centre India in association with Seoul Arts Center, has brought to India “Yun Posan House Concert” as a part of the ‘SAC on Screen’ program series.
The performance will be screened on the official YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u12WauSZ46U) of the Seoul Arts Center on June 11, 2022 (Saturday) at 7 p.m.
“Yun Posan House Concert” is the performance presented at the “16th Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music 2021”.
Though the Chamber music is the legacy of European royal court culture, in harmony with the traditional Korean architecture, the old house, this performance is revered as the most popular performance at the chamber music festivals 2021.
The old house of Yun Posan who was the fourth president of the Republic of Korea, is considered as one of the most beautiful old houses in Seoul and it has been designated as Korean Historic Site No. 439.
The concert will commence with the flute trio of Haydn, one of the leading composers of classicism and will be followed by colourful works by various composers like Mendelssohn, Hummel, Tarrega, Rubinstein. And it will conclude with a piano quartet by Dvořák, one of the most played songs in chamber music.
“SAC on Screen” is a high-definition imaging project of performing arts that the Seoul Arts Center launched in 2013 for the first time out of Korean domestic performance halls. Korean Cultural Centre India has been screening “SAC on Screen” online since 2020, and this time will be the 5th series of the program.
Hwang Il Yong, director of Korean Cultural Centre India said, “In India, its traditional performing arts are encroaching on the performing arts market. Even in this situation, it has its own meaning to introduce Korean excellent performing arts. We present the concert culture which is newly recreated by mixing Western music contents with the most Korean venues, Korean traditional architecture and Korean festival culture. I hope this concert culture may give some insight to my India friends how to preserve and develop their own culture while not being isolated or left behind in the era of globalization.”
