Nov 11-12: RASK International Seminar 2022 on “India-South Korea Ties: Exploring Linkages through History, Values, and Interest”

NEW DELHI: In yet another effort to bring researchers from India and Korea together to share their researches about both countries and learn from one another, the Researchers’ Association for the Study of Korea (RASK) is going to organize the 16th RASK International Seminar 2022 (전 인도 차세대 육성 한국학 세미나 2022) titled “India-South Korea Ties: Exploring Linkages through History, Values and Interest” at Jamia Millia Islamia University premises on November 11-12, 2022.

Besides the presence of Chang Jae-bok, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Skand Tayal, Chairman, Indo-ROK Friendship Association . & Former Indian Ambassador to the ROK, the event would witness the keynote address delivery by Prof. Ku Nan Hee, Academy of Korean Studies, South Korea, Seoul on the subject “India- South Korea Ties: Exploring Linkages through History, Values and Interests”.

The 2-day seminar being organized by RASK together with Jamia Millia Islamia University would open on November 11 with the welcome Speech of Shashi Kumar Mishra, President, RASK & Asst. Prof., CUJ, Ranchi, and followed by Introductory Speech & Future Vision of RASK by Prof. Do-young Kim, Chairman, RASK & Director, Korean Studies, JMI, and a speech by RASK’s patron’s Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia.

While India-South Korea strategic partnership is consistently deepening, it is also essential that new vistas for deeper collaboration are regularly explored. Enormous potentials and opportunities for deeper collaboration between India South Strategic partnership do exist which are yet to be tapped and realized. In this regard, Researchers’ Association for the Study of Korea (RASK) has been making its best efforts to contribute in process of exploring new vistas of cooperation between our two democracies, deepening bilateral understanding and strengthening India-South Korea ties.

According to Prof. Do-young Kim, Chairman, RASK & Director, Korean Studies, JMI, the RASK is an informal association which aims at bringing researchers from India and Korea together to share their researches about both countries and learn from one another. A special emphasis of the association has been put on the area where India and Korea have been cooperating or having strong potential to learn from each other, ranging from culture and philosophy to science and economics. Moreover, the association also ventures to explore further area of synergy between the two countries by conducting future- oriented study and research.

“In this year’s conference, special emphasis has been put on history, values, culture along with discussing other areas of cooperation. The main objective of the seminar is to provide a platform to bring the scholars to present their understanding and experiences related to Indo-Korean relationship and to enrich their knowledge by learning from one another. RASK has invited the scholars from the prominent universities of India such as University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, IIT, Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia, Banaras Hindu University, Central University of Ranchi, Calcutta University, Gujarat University, etc.,” added Prof. KIM.

This conference will have deliberations from a variety of perspectives with participation of scholars from various fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. It is, therefore, hoped that the views and observations by scholars through this conference will contribute to enrich literature and understanding on the following key areas such as Politics & International relations, Security, History, Economy and Trade, Culture & Society, and Language & Literature.
