NEW DELHI: Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India (TECC) and Shoolini University have joined hands to establish Taiwan Education Centre (TEC) in Himachal Pradesh.
The TEC aims to promote the Mandarin learning environment and foster international academic collaboration between India and Taiwan.
An MoU to this effect was signed between Shoolini University and TECC in New Delhi on January 28, 2020.
Prof. Ram Prakash Dwivedi, Director of International Affairs, Shoolini University, and Peters Chen, Director of Education Division, TECC, signed the MoU. Some Colleagues and teachers participated in the ceremony in support of the new breakthrough.
Ambassador Chung-Kwang Tien, Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India was also present on the occasion.
Funded by the Ministry of Education Taiwan, the TEC aims to promote the Mandarin learning environment and foster international academic collaboration.
TECs have been established in nine countries to date, including Vietnam, the Philippines, Mongolia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, and India.
In India, TECs have been established at IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, Jamia Millia Islamia University, O. P. Jindal Global University, Amity University, SRM Chennai, Vel Tech Chennai, etc.
The TEC@Shoolini will have a formal inauguration soon after today’s signing ceremony.
A teacher has been sent to the center to bridge bilateral relations through academic visitation, student exchange, faculty exchange, customized short-term programs, and Mandarin courses.
Prof. Dwivedi said, “In the past one month, Shoolini University has signed MoUs with 6 Universities in Taiwan, which is efficient and benefits for students.”
“Such mutual efforts and international collaboration will enable universities in India and Taiwan to better prepare their students for the future and equip them with industry-oriented skills by having more scholarship opportunities to participate the related programs in Taiwan, not to mention the added-value of promotion on university ranking,” said Peters Chen.
“In the near future, a faculty exchange program will be on a high agenda. We hope to facilitate to have more Taiwanese professors come to Shoolini to have a short-term exchange in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceutical science, automobile engineering, nanotechnology, renewable energy, and disaster management.” Peters added.
