A total of 77 Japanese Cos. come forward to support Ideathon – Hack the Innovative Future
In addition to Sogo shosha (総合商社) companies Mitsubishi, and Mitsui, the big conglomerates such as Honda, Canon, Denso, TCS and others too have joined hands with this initiative.
NEW DELHI: The number of Japanese companies supporting the 900-km long venture-based Ideathon – Hack the Innovative Future has reached 77.
Apart from Mitsubishi, Mitsui & Co., ITOCHU, Sumitomo, Marubeni, and Toyota, the other Japanese firms that have joined the bandwagon are HONDA, Canon, Denso, and others including TATA Consultancy Services (TCS).
Some of the new names supporting the initiative are JFE, AOTS, DNP, DIA Park Hotel, KARI KARI, JKEKT, SANKYO Inc., SUMITOMO Wiring, Mitsui Chemicals, YOKOHAMA, ZEON, PASONA, and KG.
Other Japanese companies supporting Ideathon include ITOCHU, Sumitomo, Marubeni, Toyota Tsusho, DAIKIN, NIPPON STEEL, TORAY, JAPAN AIRLINES, SUZUKI, MIZUHO, MUFG, Sojitz, HITACHI, SMBC, JFE, MKCI, Hitachi Estemo, Mitutoyo, NRI consulting, AISAN, AISIN, Chola MS, FUJIFILM, FUTABA, Idemitsu, IFFCO-TOKIO, ISUZU, IHI, Iwatani, KAWASAKI, ICT KTTM, COBELCO, KONIKE Group, Kuraray, Kyosan, NGK/NTK, NKID, Nissin ABC, Nohmi, ONE, OJI, Otsuka, Prestigue International, SMCC Construction, TEJIN, TRMN, TOKYO ZAIRYO, TOYOTA BOSHOKU, TOYODA GOSEI, TIT India, Toyota Material Handling, Unicharm, SOMPO, YKK, and Y-tec.
The event is being organised by the Steering Committee of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Japan-India Diplomatic Relations consisting of the Embassy of Japan, Japan Association Delhi, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), Japan Foundation New Delhi, Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) New Delhi Office, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) India Office, and JNTO Delhi Office.

The event has received a massive response from the applicants (18-25 years) from India and Japan alike. The registrations for participating in this event closed on July 17, and by then 4660 youths from India and 700 from Japan had applied to be the part of this show.
The last date for applying for this free-of-cost 9-day long joint trip of Japanese and Indian youths from New Delhi to Varanasi was July 17.
According to the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), an apex trade association of Japanese companies in India, a total of 40 lucky youths – 20 from Japan and the same number from India would be shortlisted and their names would be announced by the end of August by the Steering Committee of the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of Japan-India diplomatic relations.
