All major Korean bodies come in support of “50th Anniversary India-Korea Friendship Golf Cup”

Supported by Korean Embassy, United Korean Community Assn, KOTRA, KTO, KOCHAM, KITA, this event will act as a catalyst to the year-long activities to commemorate it as the Golden Jubilee year of the establishment of India-Korea diplomatic relations.

NEW DELHI: The upcoming “50th Anniversary India-Korea Friendship Golf Cup” is going to be a grand and memorable event to celebrate the year 2023 as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of India-Republic of Korea (ROK) diplomatic relations as all major Korean institutions including the government of the Republic of Korea have lent their support to this event. The India-Korea Friendship Golf Cup is being organised on April 15 in Gurugram.

Besides the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in New Delhi, and United Korean Community Association in India, all major institutions, either state-run and otherwise such as KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), KOCHAM (Korea Chamber of Commerce in India) , KITA (Korea International Trade Association), KTO (Korea Tourism Organization), and others have come forward to support the golfing event to make it a grand success.

Being organized by Asian Community News (ACN) Network with the support of the South Korean embassy and apex Korean expats body United Korean Community Association, the 50th Anniversary India-Korea Friendship Golf Cup would witness the participation of Korean and Indian golfers including senior diplomats, corporate & industry captains, and industrialists. Chang Jae-bok, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India also would be playing in this grand event.

KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) is Korea’s government trade and foreign investment promotion agency. With 127 offices located in 83 countries around the world,

KOTRA serves as a global business platform tailored to meet the needs of foreign buyers, investors and Korean entrepreneurs alike. In India it has South Asia headquarter in New Delhi and is headed by managing director Joonhwa BIN.

Representing 837 Korean companies based in India, the Korea Chamber of Commerce in India (KOCHAM ) is the apex trade and business research organisation with its headquarters in Gurugram. Hyundai Motor India MD Unsoo Kim is the KOCHAM president. The official name of KOCHAM India is Korean Business Association in India, and it was founded in 2014.

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), New Delhi Office is the branch office of KTO, Seoul. Yoon Myeong Gil is the Managing Director of KTO in India, which was established in May 2008 to market South Korea’s multi-faceted appeal as a premier tourist destination to India and its neighbouring countries. KTO’s focus areas include brand promotion and PR activities, product training, product development & co-marketing with outbound tour operators, familiarization trips for travel industry and media personnel, participation in major b2b and b2c exhibition and events, association with travel industry and related organizations, information dissemination through roadshows, seminars and workshops, incentive support for mice, industrial and educational tourism, and encouraging film tourism to South Korea.

“The India-Korea Friendship Golf Cup being organized on April 15 is all set to become catalyst to launch the year-long activities to commemorate the year 2023 as the Golden Jubilee year of the establishment of India-Republic of Korea (ROK) diplomatic relations. With this the year 2023 would witnessed a series of events taking place in the field of art, culture, language, education, sports, diplomacy, and business, trade & industry,” said Euy Don Park, President, United Korean Community Association in India.

Bilateral consular relations between India and South Korea were established in 1962 and were upgraded to Ambassador-level on December 10, 1973, thus marking the beginning of diplomatic relations which would complete 50 years by the year-end.

The United Korean Community Association in India is the apex body that represents all 10 regional Korean associations spread across the country representing about 14,000 Korean expats living and working in India.
