–As Japan has started to open its borders allowing the entry of foreigners, more skilled manpower will go to Japan. The movement of skilled manpower had stopped in 2020 and 2021 because of the Covid pandemic.
–On Friday, Japan announced to raise its daily limit on entrants from overseas to around 10,000 from April 10, up from the current 7,000.
NEW DELHI: As the Corona pandemic situation eases and Japan starts to open its borders for foreign entrants, the movement of skilled manpower from many nations including India to Japan has begun.
ARMS Incorporation – one of the leading skill development and training organisations has dispatched 29 Indian interns to Japan in various job roles including healthcare, industrial packaging, mechanical, and construction.
Registered as a sending organisation (SO) under the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) of India’s National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), ARMS dispatched its first batch of eight interns on March 17, 2022 and second batch of 21 interns on March 28 from New Delhi airport to Japan.
To stay in Japan for the next three years, these interns were rigorously trained in Japanese languages proficiency skills as well as its culture besides their respective domain knowledge areas by ARMS.
With this, ARMS has sent a total of 60 interns to Japan so far.
With over 20 years of experience in rendering skill development and training courses, the ARMS Incorporation was started in Japan by Hamajima Masayoshi in Aichi, Nagoya. Acquiring the license of a ‘Sending Organisation’ in the very first phase, ARMS offers Technical Intern Training Program Japanese language training and corporate training to individuals.
ARMS has sent over 10,000 technical interns to Japan from countries China, Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mongolia where they were intensively trained and were provided employment in Japan.
ARMS aims to impart training directly through Japanese natives to develop individuals holistically and train them to adapt themselves to the work culture in Japan.
Though, TITP commenced in 1993 in Japan, which aims to contribute to developing countries by accepting its people and transferring skills through On-the-job Training (OJT) in Japan, it was launched in India in 2018.
Till the calendar year 2021, India was able to send 223 interns to Japan as the TITP initiative was adversely affected due to Covid-19-induced pandemic and lockdown during the ensuing years 2020 and 2021.
Recently, NAVIS, another known SO sent its batch of 15 interns to Japan.
With this, the total number of TITP interns sent to Japan from India has grown to 269, and more are likely to be dispatched to Japan during the year 2022.
TITP promotes international cooperation through transfer of skills, techniques and knowledge gained by technical interns to the developing nations. This will not only contribute to the human resource development but will drive economic growth of the said regions.
To amplify the impetus on making India the skill capital of the world, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, has initiated several measures.
One such noteworthy measure is the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan. The MoC was signed on October 17, 2017 to significantly expand the bilateral cooperation between India and Japan in the skill development sector.
Under the program, selected candidates from India undergo three-to-five years of internship in Japan, after which they are required to return to India and utilize the skills acquired by them in Japan. In January 2018, MSDE appointed National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to monitor the program
