PUNE: As part of its ongoing Special Lectures Series, the Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC) and India Japan Laboratories (IJL), Keio University will jointly host Session 4: India Japan at 70: Development perspectives on August 27.
Mr. Tomohide Ichiguchi, Deputy Director General, South Asia Department, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Ms. Tomo Kawane, Senior Researcher, Keio University, and Independent Consultant (25 years in Gujarat, Indian affairs, politics, languages, and voluntary sector), will be the key speakers for this session.
The Special Lecture Series is one of the many events the IJBC is organisnig to celebrate the year 2022 as the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. IJBC and IJL has been hosting special lectures series on various facets of the India-Japan relationship from February to December 2022.
According to Mr. Abhishek Choudhary, Vice-President, IJBC, “Session 4 highlights development challenges through governmental and non-governmental perspectives with first-hand accounts of nearly three decades. The audience will be journeyed through JICA’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) cooperation to India, such as urban railways in metropolitan cities, road connectivity in the north eastern region, water supply, environment improvement, and human resource development, that has significantly contributed in strengthening the bilateral relations between India and Japan.”
“Experiences and lessons through grassroot initiatives and interactions as well as voluntary actions in India would give us an insight about India’s new challenges, potentials, and innovative approaches that can help Japan to increase cooperation in India in the years to come,” added Mr. Choudhary who is also Director, Nanobiz India Private Limited. added.
