Bengaluru gears up to host 10th ITF Taekwon-Do Asian Championships 

Martial Artists from Over 35 Countries to Compete in Prestigious 6-day Event This August

Bengaluru, India: The 10th ITF Taekwon-Do Asian Championships are set to take place in Bengaluru, India, from August 19 to August 25, 2024. This highly anticipated event is organized by the Taekwon-Do Association of India ITF, in collaboration with the Taekwon-Do Association of Karnataka ITF and the Asian Taekwon-Do Federation.

Asian Taekwon-Do Federation (ATF) is a non-profit, non-governmental corporate body affiliated with the International Taekwon-Do Federation, established on 11th April 1968.

The championship, expected to draw participants from over 35 countries across Asia, promises to be one of the most significant events in the ATF history. The event will be held at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, a premier sports venue in Bengaluru known for its world-class facilities and ample seating capacity.

Grand Master Dr. Rajendran Balan, President of the Taekwon-Do Association of India ITF and Vice President of the Asian Taekwon-Do Federation, is spearheading the organizing committee. The ATF Tournament Committee and the ATF Umpire Committee, chaired by Grand Master Dr. Rajendran Balan and Grand Master Tan Chek Si, respectively, are diligently working to ensure the smooth execution of the event.

Bengaluru, the vibrant capital of Karnataka, is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and modern cosmopolitan charm. Known as the “Garden City” of India, Bengaluru offers a delightful mix of historical landmarks, lush gardens, and a booming tech industry. Participants and visitors can explore attractions such as Vidhana Soudha, Bannerghatta National Park, and the iconic Lalbagh and Cubbon Park.

The championships will feature a variety of events, including individual and team patterns, sparring, special techniques, power breaking, and self-defense routines. Competitors will be categorized by age and rank, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all participants.

 

The preliminary schedule:

August 19-20: Arrival, Registration, Weigh-in

August 21: Opening Ceremony, Initial Competitions

August 22-25: Competitions and Medal Awarding

August 25: Closing Ceremony

The organizing committee has arranged various accommodation packages to suit different budgets, with options for standard and premium packages. Transportation between Bengaluru International Airport, the venue, and hotels will be provided for those who book in advance.

Participants requiring visas are advised to contact the nearest Indian embassy or consulate well in advance. All participants must be registered members of the ITF Database, and applications must be submitted through the ITF DB online registration system.

Strict adherence to ITF rules and regulations will be maintained throughout the championships. The event will also enforce rigorous anti-doping measures, ensuring a fair competition environment. Medical assistance will be available on-site to address any injuries promptly.
