Covid vaccination drive for Japanese community starts in Gurgaon
NEW DELHI: A Japan-based solution provider firm PRESTIGE INTERNATIONAL INDIA has come forward to the help of the Japanese nationals working and staying in India, and to save them from the possible impact of the Covid-19.
Already serving the Japanese community in India and the world over, the company started organising a periodical Vaccination Camp at DIA PARK Premier Hotel in Gurgaon on July 31, the Saturday.
The Vaccination Camp organized at the request of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), administered Covishield Vaccine to 60 Japanese people including individuals, corporate executives, engineers, and their family members, etc from Delhi NCR towns.
Those benefiting from this drive included individual members of Japan Association Delhi, their family members, employees of corporate support members of Japan Association Delhi, and employees of JCCII, and their maids, drivers, and their families.
The event was supported by DIA PARK Premier Hotel where a team of doctors and para-medical staff from Akash Healthcare carried out the inoculation drive.
Asano Michinari, who returned from Nagoya Japan to India the previous day, reached the vaccination site at DIA PARK PREMIER Hotel on Saturday to get the first vaccination dose.
Working with SUMITOMO Hard Metal Company in India for the past four years, Asano Michinari had left for his hometown in Japan as the second Covid wave hit India.
He said, “Even though there are reports that the 3rd Covid wave also could hit India, I returned from Japan on Friday. Since we have to carry on working, we need to stay safe by getting vaccinated ourselves. However, I wish that the Japanese and Indian governments reach an agreement to make the Covishield vaccination dose acceptable in Japan. The Japanese inoculated in India and going back to Japan need to stay quarantined for two weeks in Japan as the Indian vaccine is not recognized by the Japanese government there. ”
Takuya Yamakami, Managing Director, PRESTIGE INTERNATIONAL INDIA (PII), said that the company was into operation in India for the last four years and is already into providing solutions to the Japanese community.
“In India, we serve the Japanese community with facilities like interpretation services, attending staff, and also offer cashless medical facilities such as hospitalization for the Japanese people who are enrolled with Japanese insurance companies. We have created a network of 60 hospitals in India which we have entered into agreement. We can avail of their services for our people in the event of any medical emergency or eventuality. During the second COVID-19 wave, we got more than 30 people admitted in various hospitals and provided them urgent medical care when there was a scarcity of medical facilities,” said Takuya Yamakami.
The PII MD said that as many as 60% of the Japanese people received the first dose while 40% received the second dose during the vaccination camp at DIA Premier Park Hotel on July 31.
Minori Suzuki, Marketing & Accounting Support Supervisor, PII, and other employees of the company were also present on this occasion.
Kenji Sugino, Secretary-General, JCCII said, “Regarding the COVID-19 vaccination in India, we get many requests about getting vaccinated in a safe environment. We are grateful to the PRESTIGE INTERNATIONAL INDIA PII) and DIA PARK PREMIER, who arranged for COVID-19 vaccination site exclusively for the members of Japan Association Delhi and JCCII, and their family members as well as supporting staff.”

Kenji Sugino said that earlier on July 10 also there was a similar vaccination drive was organized at the DIA PARK PREMIER Hotel when 70 Japanese people got vaccinated here.
Kaori Sato, Executive – General Manager, DIA PARK Premier Hotel, said, “We also hosted RT-PCR Covid-19 testing camp for the 450 people earlier during the one-month long drive last month with the support of JCCII. We are supporting the current vaccination drive by providing our venue.”
