Dine Around Series: Soneva Masters with Chef Akira
Soneva unveils its latest Dine Around Series as part of its 25th anniversary events with Chef Akira from Japan in Mumbai on March 11-16, In Moscow and London later.
MUMBAI: Soneva is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2020. Founded in 1995, today the brand is tantamount with ‘intelligent luxury’ well-known for creating exceptional and reliable experiences for guests while devising sustainability across all levels of its operations.
Throughout 2020, Soneva’s resorts will be presenting a calendar of events and celebrations to recognise many of the revolutionary accomplishments and industry firsts the brand has made throughout its 25-year journey.
Soneva Masters with Master Chef Akira Koba are three dining events taking place across 2020 and 2021; with the first happening in Mumbai, India, from March 11-16, 2020. There will be another Soneva Masters event in Moscow in early October 2020, and the third in London in January 2021.
The location for the lunches and dinners is the A Club Mumbai. Guests can also pair their dinner with sake and wine, which will be chosen by Soneva Fushi’s Sommelier.
Chef Akira Koba is an extraordinarily skilled sushi chef from Japan who oversees So Hands-On at Soneva Fushi.
Chef Akira has trained under some of Japan’s most celebrated Master Chefs, counting at a three-Michelin starred sushi restaurant in his native Fukuoka. He is known for using the hontegaeshi (hand flip) technique of Endomae nigiri to prepare his bite-sized sushi – a technique that is rarely seen these days.
Chef Akira’s sushi is popular for the way the effortlessly prepared rice blends flawlessly with the topping, creating a masterpiece of flavours to joy the palate. Chef Akira is known for his sashimi or abort (lightly grilled) pickled mackerel with Ponzu sauce, and Yellowtail with a seaweed soy sauce.
