NEW DELHI: As tempers soar at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh with soldiers from India and China get to engage in a faceoff, Indian youths refuse to endorse the ‘peace talk’ by the Chinese Ambassador in India.
Recently, Sun Weidong, the Chinese ambassador to India who recently shared on Twitter the speech he delivered while interacting with Indian youths on video conferencing tweeted but was trolled massively later.
“The realization of “Dragon and Elephant dancing together” is the only right choice for China and India, which serves the fundamental interests of our two countries and two peoples…..,” said in the speech the ambassador shared on Twitter.
The Indian youths, however, refused to buy the logics presented by Sun Weidong, and reacted sharply against his tweet. They accused China of not matching his actions with words and creating a military built up at the border and telling friendship stories on the other hand.
“Dragon & Elephant can’t dance together. It’s not a circus. Social distancing but from China” tweeted Naveen.
The youths did not stop here and were very blunt in their remarks.
“Mad dog and the sensible elephant can’t dance together. And who said you #Indian youth with you. Forget bro, come in reality. Just wait till the pandemic after the world will show you. #China back bcz you know it’s not 1962 #India,” tweeted Kamal Kohli while replying to the Chinese ambassador’s post.

Sun Weidong posted on his twitter handle, “Shared #China’s experiences fighting against #COVID19 with #Indian youth. Virus makes us keep social distance, but never keeps us apart in the
heart. We should join hands, strengthen cooperation & fight together. Read the transcript of my remarks on the webinar.”
But the youths were just not ready to buy what the Chinese ambassador said.
Stuti wrote, “Well Ambassador..Itz like a two-faced friend, positive tweet/message to India but supporting Pakistan’s 40-yr old dam project in Indian territory, both world bank & ADB refused to fund, bcz Pakistan refused to take a no-objection certificate from India for the project.
Jiten Malhotra of Voice of New Bharat wrote on his twitter handle, “China is not a trusted brand anymore. 1962 Hindi China bhai bhai and ended with war but that year and leaders are totally replaced in 2020. One wrong step will split a big country into pieces, leave Indian land which you were on since 1963 and pay rent till the time you were there.”
During the webinar on May 27, the Chinese ambassador had said, “We should adhere to the basic judgment that China and India are each other’s opportunities and pose no threat to each other. We should correctly view our differences and never let the differences shadow the overall situation of bilateral cooperation.”
Probably fearing an outburst from Indian youths, the Chinese embassy, and the organizers had decided to not make the webinar extempore, and the pre-written speech was read out by the ambassador.
Also, the questions from the youths were shared in advance with the embassy and Sun Weidong too read out the already-prepared replies, which were later posted on the official website of the embassy and shared on its Twitter account. His speech was picked up by almost all the media channels, newspapers, and wire agencies because of the ongoing tension at the LAC in Ladakh.
And as the Indian youths read those remarks on the Twitter handle of the Chinese ambassador, they reacted sharply and spoke their heart out.
Sanjeev Jha wrote, “Indians always wants to have a good relation with China as it’s fruitful for both but the way your army behaving makes it tough to trust you and it’s neither Nehru nor 62 .you may be powerful but India too is not a cakewalk your adventures may cause devastation for your economy.”
Another youth Devendra S said, “Why should we support one-China policy? When you are not supporting the Indian territory that belongs to India the exciting belongs to India that you put it on your map. From now onwards, we don’t support one-China policy.”
