EBISU Fine Japanese Cuisine restaurant expands its footprint, opens second branch in Saket, Delhi

EBISU Saket was inaugurated by Japan Ambassador Hiroshi SUZUKI on Wednesday, the 6th anniversary of EBISU Gurugram.

NEW DELHI: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India Hiroshi SUZUKI inaugurated the EBISU Fine Japanese Cuisine Restaurant at Salcon Rasvilas, Saket District Centre in New Delhi on Wednesday during a star-studded ceremony in the presence of a descent number of luminaries including Japanese diplomats, corporate honchos and entrepreneurs.

The Japan Ambassador cut the ribbon of the EBISU Fine Japanese Cuisine Restaurant along with Kenji Sugino, Secretary-General, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), and Varun Singal, Promoter, EBISU, and Director, DEX Group. EBISU Fine Japanese Cuisine Restaurant is the second authentic Japanese food outlet as its first restaurant is situated in Gurugram. The occasion also marked the 6th anniversary of the EBISU Gurugram that was opened on January 31, 2018.

Present on the occasion were Susume Wakamori, Chairman & Managing Director, Marubeni India, Toshiyuki Shimizu, Managing Director, SMCC Construction India Limited, Toshitaka Hagiwara, Administrative Director, SMCC Construction India Limited, Takuya Nakagawa, President, Takahashi Shouten Co. In his welcome speech, Varun Singal, Promoter, EBISU said that the new branch of EBISU was being opened with a vision to bring to the Delhi the beauty of authentic Japanese food, culture and hospitality.

“For your comfort EBISU Saket has five private dining rooms (PDRs), Horigotatsu seating, Open Dining Spaces, offering a good mix of seating options, whether you are visiting with your business associates, family or having a company party. My colleague Mori san will be the manager of this branch, and I request you to share your feedback with her, about our restaurant and how we can improve our services,” Singal added.

While congratulating EBISU Promoter Varun Singal for opening second Japanese restaurant, Ambassador Suzuki said, “I have heard that EBISU in Gurgaon is popular not only among Japanese people but also Indian people, and remains packed with customers every day. There are many EBISU fans among the Embassy staff as well. EBISU, led by the owner Mr. Varun Singal, participates in the certification program of Japanese Food and Ingredient Supporter Stores Overseas (Japan Ingredients Supporter Stores). This is an initiative by the Japan Government, and EBISU has greatly contributed to promote Japanese food and food culture in India. I hope that the opening of your second restaurant will further contribute to this endeavor.”

Ambassador said an amazing feature of Fine Japanese Cuisine Restaurant is that, it has a sushi counter, and one can enjoy authentic sushi using fresh Japanese seafood such as scallops and hamachi (yellowtail).

“Export of Japanese Seafood to India is growing drastically, and I hope that more Indians will come to enjoy Japanese seafood. It has been 10 years since “Washoku” was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. As the popularity of Japanese food increases worldwide, I would like to create more opportunities for people in India to learn more deeply about Japanese food culture. I hope that, with the opening of this second restaurant, EBISU will play a leading role in the promotion of Japanese food and food culture in India, in collaboration with various event to be organized by the Embassy of Japan,” Ambassador Suzuki added.

Kenji SUGINO, Secretary General, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), former Director (Sales and Marketing) with Japan’s biggest state-run airline service All Nippon Airways (ANA) said that he was in New Delhi in 2013 and that time there was only one Japanese restaurant in Green Park but after that there was none in the vicinity. It is now after 10 year that we have an authentic Japanese restaurant in the area. He offered gratitude to Varun san, Mori san, Sanjay san and entire EBSIU team for opening Saket branch in Delhi.
