Jajauma lifts golf cup 3rd time in a row: ETOKAI 12 Animal Golf Tournament

NEW DELHI: Jajauma team continued to maintain its winning streak in the third consecutive year also as it clinched the top berth and lifted the trophy at the ETOKAI 12 Animal Golf Tournament 2019 played at the Golden Greens Golf Course.

Jajauma team has been the winner of the tournament since the year 2017 without a break. This team has won this tournament four times. It was declared the winner in the year 2014 when ETOKAI 12 Animal Golf Tournament was launched in India for the first time.

As many as 144 Japanese golfers – men and women contested in this annual tournament held last Sunday on November 18.

The contest had a total of six teams – Jajauma in red outfits, Ushitora in blue, Drabi in pink, Yoen in purple, Toriumi in white and Inochu in blacks.

Each team represented players with two zodiac signs. The Japanese zodiac known as Juunishi is divided into 12 signs with each sign representing a group of years.

The 12 Animal Golf is a very famous event among Japanese whether in their own country Japan or anywhere in the world.

However, the only golf contestant who hailed from India in this tournament was Prakash Yadav, Founder & CEO of AJU Group of Japanese Hotels. He represented team Toriumi.

In his address to the contestants at the end of the tournament, Yadav reminded them of his four-year-old commitment of honoring the player with a complimentary trip to Thailand who would hit Hole-in-One.

“None, however, has been able to hit Hole-in-One in last so many years. On a lighter note, I announced on this occasion that I will ask the caddie to do the favor and put the ball into the hole for one of the contestants. We also offered each contestant with Onigiri and Yakult,” added Yadav.

The contestants who won accolades for Longest Drive were #5 Shunsuke Kitamura from team Ushitora, #9 Yuichi Mizumoto from team Ushitora, #15 Masaya Sakakibara from team Yoen, and #18 Katsuma Miyamoto from team Jyajyauma.

Those shortlisted for Closest-to-the-Pin included #4 Takeshi Isonaga from team Dorabi, #8 Katsuma Miyamoto from team Jyajyauma, #12 Shinsei Iwashiro from team Yoen and #16 Kei Nonaka from team Dorabi.

Hiroto Nakagawa from team Ushitora was adjudged for scoring highest at 79 and Shinsei Iwashiro from team Yoen for a best net score of 62.2.
