Euy Don Park re-elected as President of Federation of Korean Associations in India for next 3 years

The Federation, which Mr. Parks will lead for the second term consecutively consists of 10 Korean associations spread across the country representing over 14,000 Korean expats residing in India.

NEW DELHI: Euy Don Park the incumbent President of the Federation of Korean Association in India has once again been elected as the President of this apex Korean expats association for the next three years, consecutively for the second term 2022-2025.

The representatives of ten Korean associations spread across the country re-elected Euy Don Park as the President during an Annual General Meeting 2022 of Federation of Korean Association on August 15, the National Liberation Day of the Republic of Korea, in New Delhi.

The Federation of Korean Associations consists of 10 Korean associations spread across the country representing over 14,000 Korean expats residing and working in India. These associations hail from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Ahmadabad, and North East India.

North East India association has been formed for the first time to represent the Korean community residing and working in the eight states of the north-eastern region of India.

The election for the post of President and others was held at Korean Cultural Center in India (KCCI), New Delhi, which was also the venue for the Ceremony of 77th Korean Liberation Day.

Most of the regional Presidents of the Korean associations gathered at the venue to join the election process during the Annual General Meeting physically, while some of them attended it virtually.

In his first statement after being re-elected as the President, Euy Don Park said, “I am grateful to the entire Korean community that has exhibited its confidence in me and also thankful to the association representatives who sought to elect me once again as the President of the Federation for the next three years.”

The re-election of Mr. Park as President of the Korean Federation has happened at the time when India and South Korea are celebrating the year 2022 as the 60th Anniversary of the beginning of the Korean expat history in India. His election also marks significance as both the countries are preparing big time to celebrate the next year 2023 as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations.

Mr. Park said that during the Annual General Meeting on August 15 all the association presidents seriously discussed ways and means on ensuring Korean community growth in India, and also to deepen the solidarity of Korean expat and help improve the life quality of Korean expat in India.

During the annual general meeting, those present also included Chu Hyun Seok, President of Pune Korean Association, Park Tae Joo, former President of Pune Korean Association, Ra Byung Gi, Former president of Bangalore Korean Association, Cho Mam Jung, President of Mumbai Koreans Association, Cho Sang Hyun, President of Chennai Korean Association, Jung Young Ho, President of AP state Korean Association, Koo Ding Lim ,President of Hydrabad Korean Association, Ko Young Soon,  President of Ahmedabad Korean  Association, Jung Sung Kook, President of Kolkata Korean Association, Ham Sung Hee, President of North East India Korean Association, Seo Young Hyuk, Secretary General of Federation of Korean Association in India, and Park Sung Soo, Secretary General of Korean Association in India.

Later, the representatives of various Korean Associations led by Mr. Park also attended the 77th National Liberation Day ceremony at the KCCI and met the Ambassador, Chang Jae-bok.

Euy Don Park is one of the senior most South Korean corporate professionals and highly acclaimed community leader in India, and also the Vice President, Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (KOCHAM). He is also Honorary Member of the ACN Editorial Advisory Board – a Think Tank of industry leaders, management gurus, academicians, and intellectuals from South Korea, Japan, India, and other Asian countries.

With over 35 years of corporate experience, Mr. Park is a respectable figure in India for his immense contribution to the Korean community in India, for supporting Korean Industries to extend their businesses in India, encouraging friendship and cultural exchange between Korea and India besides his aggressive and widened public activities.

Currently, the Founder & Managing Director of Seela Infratech Pvt Ltd. – a company into business development of material and equipment supply in the field of electrical power infrastructure, telecommunication network and industrial factory building as well as import/exports, and distribution of food items and grocery from/to Korea and India, he was previously the Managing Director of LS Cable India Pvt. Ltd. His company also runs a chain of Korean grocery stores – Seela Stores in major metros of the country.

He worked with LS Cable & System, Korea as Vice President for around 30 years since joining it in the year 1986. Later he set up LS Cable India in Bawal Industrial Model Township in Haryana was appointed Managing Director between 2010 and 2013.

A doctorate (Ph.D.) in Electronics from National Kyungbuk University in Korea, Mr. E. D. Park would be one of the keys members of the ACN Editorial Advisory Board, and would advise Asian Community News (ACN) Network on various content and ideas related matters, and also act as a guiding force for driving various campaigns to be planned from time to time for promoting India-Asian relations.

While studying at the prestigious National Kyungbuk University in Korea, Mr. Park was engaged for a long time in the research and development (R&D) of fiber optic telecommunication systems.

He made an invaluable contribution in the R&D and commercialization of the Fiber Optic Communication industry for almost 20 years between 1980 and 2000. He was the Founding Member of the Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) Asia Pacific Forum and Council.

Mr. Park contributed immensely to the international activities for the R&D cooperation and commercial and industrial promotion of the Next Generation of Telecommunication Network.

Equipped with more than 11 years of India-Korea business, he is one of the most recognized Korean business persons in India.

Euy Don Park – A true Korean Community leader in India:

Besides spearheading the Korean community in India in the capacity of President of the Korean Federation in India, Mr. Park was also President of the Korean Community in Delhi from 2019 to 2020.

It was during his leadership, Korean Community in Delhi won the Globally Best Overseas Korean Community award last year.

In the year 2020, when Mr. Park was the President of the Korean Community in Delhi, he remained extensively devoted to the Korean Community and worked extra hours to help the people who were suffering difficulties due to the Corona pandemic. His relentless efforts for the Korean community included making the arrangements of urgent special flights to Korea from India for the stranded people. He actively initiated the PPE distribution drive to the needy people. He left no stone unturned to ensure that the morale in the community remained high and people-to-people communication continued.

Under the leadership of Mr. Park, the Korean Association organized a series of community-connect and engagement events including the sports day, international women golf tournament, community meet, etc. in Delhi and NCR towns and other parts of the country.

It was for the first time ever the Korean Association had organized the Korean Women’s Invitational Golf Tournament 2019.

Before this, an International Children Art Festival was held at Thousand Shades Butterfly Park in Gurugram in March 2019.

In December 2019, the Korean Association organized Korean & Indian Culture in One Yard” (한인 문화 한마당 ) event in Delhi in which over 700 men, women, and children from the Korean community from Delhi, Noida and Gurugram participated.

He is currently the Governor Advisor of Gyeongsangnam-do province, Korea for the last 5 years, and Advisory Member of The National Unification Advisory Council for the last 4 years. He also happens to be the Board Member of the Indo-Korea Friendship Society for the last 3 years.
