Exclusive WA-Chuka 5-Course Dinner at Eight, Mumbai with Michelin-Starred Chef Yuki Sugaya
Chef Yuki Sugaya is a pioneer in the global expansion of WA-Chuka, or Japanese-style Chinese cuisine. On Friday, Chef Sugaya will showcase his innovative WA-Chuka cuisine in an elegant and sophisticated ambiance.
MUMBAI (India): – The premier Pan-Asian bar and restaurant Eight, in association with Kikkoman India, proudly presents an exclusive dining event featuring a 5-course WA-Chuka menu curated by the renowned Michelin-starred Chef Yuki Sugaya. This special dinner event will take place on Friday, the 16th August 2024, from 8 PM to 10 PM, at the Eight restaurant, Phoenix Palladium.
This event is brought to Eight by Harry Hakuei Kosato, Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador. Chef Sugaya is assisted by Chef Kishor Arde and Amol Kinjale of Sushi and More India, Intern William Worthy of Kikkoman India, in collaboration with CEO Prashant Issar and Chef Sagar Sarkar of Bellona Hospitality Service Limited.
About Chef Yuki Sugaya: Chef Yuki Sugaya, born in Chiba, Japan, in 1982, is a pioneer in the global expansion of WA-Chuka, or Japanese-style Chinese cuisine. His passion for culinary arts was inspired by his father’s delicious Chinese dishes prepared for his mother on special anniversaries. Sugaya-san has studied under and worked with legendary Master Chef Kenichi Chin, famous for his appearances on the TV show “Iron Chef,” and his son Chef Kentaro, the current Head of Shisen Hanten.
With over two decades of experience, Chef Sugaya launched Shisen Hanten Singapore as the inaugural Executive Chef in 2013.
Under his leadership, Shisen Hanten became the only Chinese restaurant in Singapore to achieve two Michelin stars for four consecutive years. Known for his “excellent cuisine with a delicate and gentle taste,” Chef Sugaya’s work is highly praised by food critics and enthusiasts alike.
In 2020, Chef Sugaya returned to Japan to further deepen his understanding of Japanese culture and customs. He traveled extensively across Japan, working on product development and refining his culinary skills. In 2023, he opened his first solo restaurant “1022” in Nagoya, continuing to perfect the art of WA-Chuka cuisine.
