Galaxy of stars glitter at Luna Arts’ NAKSHATRA (नक्षत्र ) ART FESTIVAL opening ceremony
The 6-day art extravaganza took off in the presence of noted art luminaries and veterans from varied spheres at India’s renowned art gallery AIFACS in New Delhi.
NEW DELHI: As if the artist participants of the NAKSHATRA (नक्षत्र ) ART FESTIVAL, – a national art exhibition displaying nearly 140 contemporary paintings and sculptures, couldn’t have expected more, as they were part of the opening of the event on Friday evening. Present of the occasion were. Dr. Sandeep Marwah, noted film & media personality and Founder/President of the Asian Academy of Film & Television, and Noida Film City, a renowned sculptor of global acclaim Padma Shri awardee Biman Das (Chairman AIFACS), Mamta Bhatt Pandey (Senior Art Conservator at Ministry of Culture, Government of India PM Office), and Dr. Kiran Walia (Senior Congress Politician & former Professor of Delhi University).
What added sparkles to the opening ceremony was the mesmerizing Santoor performance by Mohammad Nizam, an artist of national and international fame as set the floor on fire with his scintillating Santoor vaadan and participants indulged completely with the tunes as they clapped all along the performance. The flute performance by Surender Kumar an alumni of Delhi College of Arts did the rest as his performance was well appreciated by the audience to its core.
LUNA ARTS’s NAKSHTRA (नक्षत्र ) ART FESTIVAL, – a 6-day art exhibition featuring 53 artists from all across India, displaying nearly 140 artworks that includes a set of brilliant contemporary paintings and sculptures was remain open for public viewing from November 18 to 23 at India’s prestigious All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society (AIFACS), New Delhi.
While complimenting the organisers artist & entrepreneur Smita Biswas and her brother Tushar, eminent sculptor and Chairman of AIFACS Biman Das said Luna Arts had been continuously supporting artists from across India by providing them the much-needed platform to showcase their work to the audience. He called upon the participating artists to keep learning throughout their life span as artists as he kept learning something related to art even at the age of 80.
Biman Bihari Das is an Indian sculptor and former Principal of the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. He was honoured by the Government of India, in 2014, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his services to the field of Fine Arts. Born in 1943 at Tamluk town of West Bengal, he studied art at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata and passed the Diploma in Modeling and Sculpture, in 1966 with first class and distinction. Later, he joined Calcutta University and passed the course of Teachers’ Training and Art Appreciation in 1967.
This year’s NAKSHTRA (नक्षत्र ) ART FESTIVAL 2023 is the 10th national group art exhibition and 7th show at AIFACS of LUNA ARTS.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder and President of the Asian Academy of Film & Television, and Noida Film City went around the gallery to interact with the participating artists and encouraged them and appreciated their works.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah with nine world records in his kitty, stands distinct as the founder of Noida Film City, and Marwah Studios. He is the founder and President of AAFT, which is one of the ten best film schools in the world. As the producer of the largest number of short films in the world, he has been associated with innumerable feature films, television programs, and amateur training films.
Felicitated with over 1000 national and international awards for his contribution to the world of Creative Arts, he has trained over 30, 000 media students from 145 countries. As Global Cultural Minister, he heads over 100 national, and international media and social organizations besides being president of the International Chamber of Media & Entertainment industry. At present, he is the Chancellor of the AAFT University of Media and Arts.
While introducing the very concept by LUNA ARTS’s NAKSHTRA (नक्षत्र ) ART FESTIVAL 2023, Tushar said that the event was planned to be organized around the auspicious occasion of Deepawali with the strong belief in astrological science that impacted everyone’s life on mundane basis, and there was a rare celestial alignment which is happening this year after a period of 400 years.
AIFACS is one of the prestigious and oldest art societies in India. Founded in 1928 by the British India Government to showcase Indian Art and Artists globally. Situated at the most prime location of the country, very adjacent to the new Parliament of India.
LUNA ARTS is a Noida-based registered art venture that organizes Offline (non-virtual) art exhibitions & photography exhibitions in the National Capital Region. Founded in December 2019 by artist & entrepreneur Smita Biswas and her brother Tushar.
