Organized by Vasudhaiv Sanskriti Sahyog Foundation, the play narrating Ram Katha unfolded on the eve of Vijaya Dashami.
Gurugram: Gurugram a subuerb of India’s national capital buzzed with excitement on Thursday, as the highly anticipated play Humare Ram was staged at the Orana Convention Center. Featuring the celebrated actor and theatre artist Ashutosh Rana, the event attracted a large audience from the Delhi NCR region.
Organized by the Vasudhaiv Sanskriti Sahyog Foundation, this innovative production showcased over one hundred artists and aimed to bring the rich narrative of the Ramayana to life through a blend of music, dance, and elaborate stage design.
Directed by Gaurav Bhardwaj, the play uniquely presents the story from the perspective of Lava and Kusha, who confront their father, Lord Rama, about their mother Sita’s fate. Senior social activists Pawan Jindal and Alok Kumar attended as chief guests, underscoring the event’s cultural significance. Humare Ram not only serves as a theatrical spectacle but also as a vital initiative to reconnect society with its cultural roots amidst modern challenges, promoting the enduring values of Sanatan culture for future generations.
If India has maintained its integrity as a civilization and a nation even amidst many types of strategic, political, and cultural attacks, then the only reason for this is that the nectar of Sanatan culture flows in its foundation. Despite all the adversities, India’s all-inclusive Sanatan culture has enunciated the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” in practice and has spread the spirit of world welfare.
Every era, every time has its own challenges and today when we live in the communication-information age of globalization, we stand with some different types of questions. This time is posing a crisis of connecting our culture-civilization with the ever-new paradigms of material progress.
According to the organisors of the play, “We are all busy in our roles on the endless path of material needs and progress. In this environment of busyness and expansion, it has become a big challenge for us to remain connected to the origin of our culture. We are unwillingly turning away from our traditional values, literature, culture, and inspiration. Our thoughts are moving in the opposite direction from the collective to the individual, so to return to our roots, it has become necessary for us to look towards our Sanatan cultural narratives. Taking the initiative towards solving this question, the Sanatan Sanskriti Sahayog Foundation has been formed with the objective of expanding social consciousness and establishing human values through the expression of Sanatan culture.”
The play Humare Ram conveys the message that he entire life of Maryada Purushottam Ram is a manifestation of our basic cultural values and presenting the narrative of his life in front of the present generation is definitely fruitful in the direction of social consciousness. That is why, to fulfill this great objective, the famous theater presentation “Humare Ram” starring actor Ashutosh Rana has been staged in Gurugram as the first program by the Foundation.
To prepare for this program, a meeting of the Foundation was held on Sunday 25 August 2024, in which more than a hundred workers were given the necessary information for various responsibilities in the program. Experienced professionals from the prestigious business institutions of Gurugram worked with dedication in the planning of this program. More than five hundred families of Millennium City Gurugram were invited through this program.
The volunteers associated with this event said that through this staging, the new generation citizens living in the metropolis will get a new introduction to the greatness and grandeur of the idea of Sanatan culture. This program is the first step towards the broader objective of the Foundation, after which this flow of expression of Sanatan culture will continue through different activities.
