Harit Sangam 2025: Celebrating Environmental Warriors of Gurgaon

Gurgaon, India – Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi (PSG) successfully hosted the 2nd edition of Harit Sangam, an award and felicitation ceremony, to recognize and honor the Environmental Warriors of Gurgaon. Harit Sangam serves as a testament to the collective efforts of individuals and organizations working towards a sustainable and environmentally conscious Gurgaon. PSG remains committed to fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and community engagement.

The impactful event was organized in association with the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon and Suraj School, Gurgaon. The ceremony was graced by Dr. RC Mishra, DGP (Retd.), an eminent environmentalist who has authored 19 books on the environment, as Chief Guest. The award ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of lamps followed by a captivating musical presentation on the environment by Suraj School, Gurgaon students.

Thereafter, Smt. Ruchi Saxena gave an enlightening introduction about “Harit Sangam” and set the stage for a day dedicated to fostering environmental consciousness, deliberations on sustainability, and acknowledging noteworthy contributions in the field. Shri Vikas Sharma, District Convenor, PSG Gurugram, provided an insightful introduction to PSG and shed light on the organization’s commitment to environmental conservation by focusing on the 3P concept, i.e., Ped lagao, Pani Bachao, Polythene hatao i.e, tree plantation, water conservation and avoiding polythene use.

In his address at the event, Dr. RC Mishra emphasized the significance of collective efforts in preserving the environment. The concept of panchtatvas and their relevance in the effect of the environment on human and animal health was well enumerated by him. Dr. RC Mishra enlightened everyone by bringing out the concept of trees remaining a human being’s friend through their lifecycle and exhorting everyone to plant a tree on every family member’s birthday. He also brought out the devastating effect of human conflict with nature in the quest for development and stressed the utmost need to achieve a balance.

The event was supported by our esteemed partners, Ms. Aarti Thapa and Surender Kumar from Pankh NGO, Ramji Saxena from IPCA, Manisha Saini from Hara Jeevan and Banidham Gaushala (founded by Shri Ajay Pandita). The event was also attended by esteemed guests Shri Harish Kumar, Prant Sah Seva Pramukh, Smt Kanika Ghai Principal, Suraj School and Program Coordinator, Lt Col Sanjay Sehgal. Other NGOs and institutions like Buland Awaaz, Organosphere, Eco-Santulan, Sahaj Shakti, and Rajni Handicrafts also collaborated and displayed their environment-friendly products.

A total of 50 citizens were felicitated as “Paryavaran Prahari” for their tireless efforts and commitment to environmental betterment. Each awardee received an appreciation certificate, a memento, and a cloth bag to recognize their selfless contributions. The event also provided a platform for the participants to share their experiences on environmental impact.

Maj Shushama Pandey (Retd), Convenor Harit Sangam 2025, proposed the vote of thanks and congratulated the entire PSG Gurugram team for the event’s successful conduct. She lauded the team’s efforts to improve the environment. She especially thanked all distinguished guests, participants, NGOs, and corporate entities for their valuable contributions to the dialogue on sustainable practices. She also thanked the management of Suraj School for making the auditorium available and providing support for the smooth conduct of the event.

Shri Gopal Dutt Sharma, Shri  Chandra Prakash, Shri Binod Dubey,  Shri D.D. Sharma, Gp Capt Shashi Shekhar, Shri Mayank Bhardwaj, Shri Parveen Garg, Shri Satish Joshi, Smt Vinod Kumari, Smt Nidhi Malhotra, Shri Atul Bajaj, Shri Madhusudan, Shri Himank, Shri Mahender and Shri Devender also graced the event with their presence.

The program concluded with a simple and environmentally conscious lunch, fostering camaraderie and furthering the commitment to environmental sustainability. In line with PSG’s core philosophy, no waste was generated during the event, and no single-use plastic product was used. Steel plates and glasses were used in place of disposables. Thus, the event was conducted as a fully Zero-Waste Event.
