GSK, AIR INDIA honchos conferred upon Lifetime Achievement Awards in HR Excellence
Gurugram: In recognition of their immense contribution to the industry, P. Dwarkanath, Non-Executive Chairman, GSK (formerly known as GlaxoSmithKline) Ltd, and Amrita Sharan, Director (Personnel), Air India were conferred upon the Lifetime Achievement Awards during PNGI HR Excellence Awards 2019 held at Escorts Ltd. in Faridabad on last Sunday.
Dwarkanath received the award in absentia as he could not make it to the event for medical exigency and had to fly to hometown Chennai while Amrita Sharan was present to receive it.
In his video message to the organizers, Dwarkanath congratulated them for organizing such an excellent event.
In her address, Amrita Sharan called upon the HR professionals to be passionate about what they do in any situation – favorable or volatile.
While referring to her own organization Air India, Sharan said, “I have gone through many ups and downs in my career and same goes with my organization. I went through many metaphors – from being monopolistic to competition to disinvestment to merger and even to bankruptcy at one point of time but the passion was something which sails us through all turbulences. In this situation, you inspire others not only to follow you but also to follow their own dreams.”
In the corporate category awards, the companies like Hero Moto Corp and Munjal Showa made their presence felt in bagging the awards.
In Learning & Development category, Hero Moto Corp and Munjal Showa, Manesar shared Silver award while Globe Automobile Pvt Ltd bagged Gold and Platinum went to Hero Moto Corp Ltd, Dharuhera
In the Industrial Relations Strategies category, Roop Automotives Ltd bagged Gold and Escorts Ltd Platinum awards.
In Talent Management Silver went to Talbross Automotive Components Pvt Ltd and Gold to Munjal Showa Limited, Haridwar. In Best Practice in the Digitalization category, Gold was bagged by Yuma Business Solution Pvt Ltd.
In Change Management category Keihin Fie Pvt Ltd, Bangalore bagged Gold and Talbross Automotive Components Pvt Ltd. Platinum. In the Organization Culture category, Roop Automotives Ltd bagged Silver and Escorts Ltd Platinum.

In his address, while referring to the PNGI HR Excellence Awards, Harbhajan Singh said that events like this gained more significance when the industrial relations (IR) atmosphere was volatile.
“The industrial scene in cities like Gurgaon and neighboring cities is very challenging and therefore we need to promote effective and forward-looking HR practices and come out with solutions to the problems arising. There are times when you need to be acting tough and soft options won’t work for the survival of the organization. There is the time when the relationship is smooth when you need to cultivate relations, to make the talent grow train people develop them here we need to take a humanitarian approach and take everyone along,” Singh said.
In the individual category, Manmay Prashad bagged the Silver award, Ashish Banka Gold and Anushri Verma Platinum in Talent Management section.
In the Change Management category, the Silver award was bagged by Dipankar Dass and Platinum went to Prerna Khanudi. In the Organization Culture category, the Silver award was given to Anjali Khandelwal. In the Employee Engagement category, the Silver went to A Rehmaan.

“In 2014, a seed sowed in the form of PNGI and doubts loomed large at that time about its survival in the given deadly competitive corporate scenario but it only survived, it also thrived and spread to 24 cities in India. We will double the number of cities by next one year and make sure to get PNGI recognized all over India in two years’ time,” said Dagar who chose this opportunity to share the fact that the employer-employee/worker relations at Escorts were exemplary and congenial.
On this occasion, Asian Community News (ACN) Network, the Media Partner for the event, presented Krumptious – Japanese baked rice snacks popularly known as Kaki -no-tane in Japan to the winner of Lucky Draw. The winner was Green Apple Solutions – a Pune-based company that won the gift hamper.

According to Ashfaq Ahmed, the founder of PNGI as many as 32 nominations from the industry across India were received and two of which were rejected.
“All the nominees made presentations in front of the committee of jury members, and based on well-laid and elaborate selection criteria, the winners were decided. The selection process was transparent with no biases,” said Ahmed.
PNGI HR Excellence Awards had attracted nominations from a score of top-notch conglomerates for the year 2019.
