Huge potential for Japanese Language Pros; Demand to increase 10-fold in 3 years

The shortage in manpower in Japan is expected to increase despite the negative growth in the economy due to the Pandemic, and the potential of the Japanese investments toward India will surely be increased in the coming years.

GUWAHATI: Despite a major economic slowdown caused by ongoing COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, Japanese investment in India is likely to increase. The demand for the professionals knowing Japanese language is likely to shoot up more than 10 folds within the next three years.

Tomio Isogai a Japanese national – freelance advisors on Indo-Japanese Relations and former managing director of Japanese white goods multinational company Sharp India said this while addressing a webinar recently.

“The shortage in manpower in Japan is expected to increase despite the negative growth in the economy due to the pandemic, and the potential of the Japanese investments toward India will surely be increased in the coming years. I predict within three years the number will be more than ten folds. So, if one (student/professional) starts learning the Japanese language today, and by the time when he/she reaches the employable level of proficiency in the Japanese language, there will be a huge demand for such skilled people,” said Tomio Isogai, who is also an Adjunct Faculty MIT-ADT University, Pune, and a promoter of Indo Japanese Cooperation.

He also stressed the even more important point of adaptability to the Japanese culture and discussed the critical importance of learning the Japanese language to seek decent jobs in Japan or with Japanese companies operating in India.

The webinar titled “Career Development with Foreign Language Skills as a Career Accelerator – with a Special Reference to the Japanese Language” was jointly organised by two Leading educational institutions of North East India – Tinsukia College, Tinsukia, and Handique Girls’ College, Guwahati on August 21, 2020.

The webinar was sponsored by a leading Japanese Language and Culture Skills Institute of the North East Region, the “Jaceex Japanese Language Academy-JJLA. The Sponsors brought on board a team of renowned panelists from the area of academics, entrepreneurship, and Indo Japanese relations.

The interest of the youth in career development and ambition to achieve great heights can be understood by the fact that the event had over 400 registrations from different fields of academics including science, humanities, and media and it was highly interactive in nature.

Some of the key speakers during the webinar were included Dr. Surjya Chutia, Principal Tinsukia College, and Dr. Bandana Nabis Das, Coordinator, IQAC & Asst. Prof. Botany, Handique Girls’ College – who gave the inaugural address for the webinar. Apart from a range of valuable advice to the youth they also stressed the need that the youth should skill in areas that have high growth potential globally. Foreign Language Skills are an important enabler in this regard.

Manash K Gogoi, HoD, Computer Science & Convenor, Career Counselling & Training Cell, Handique Girls, College- gave a wonderful presentation and outlined some of the special features of  Japanese Culture which the youth should imbibe in themselves for overall development.

Saurabh Barman, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Geography, Tinsukia College, Assam was also present during the webinar session as an organiser panelist.

Deepankar Bhattacharjya, Deputy Director, Training and Placement Division, USTM -Meghalaya spoke on the topic ‘Importance of Foreign languages for career and human development’ and was then supported by H . K. Borah, Head- Ecosystem Development- IIM Calcutta Innovation Park who spoke on the Topic- Opportunity in Entrepreneurship and Self Employed Careers with Foreign Language.

Rajeev Gupta,  Founder of the startup Jaceex Ventures LLP which operates the Jaceex- Japanese Language Academy gave a complete insight on the career path with Japanese Language and Culture Training.

The speakers addressed a large number of queries regarding the various aspects of the importance of learning Foreign Language and its future impact on career growth.

The sessions were ably moderated by Sruti Baruah the founding associate of Jaceex Ventures who also offered the vote of thanks.
