In a first, Scottish High hosts prestigious Indo-Japanese Collaborative Meet 2023
Receives delegation of Japanese students and teachers from Bunka Gakuen Daigaku Suginami Junior & Senior High School, Tokyo marking the beginning of a new chapter toward sustainable Indo-Japanese students’ alliance.
NEW DELHI: It was a a landmark moment for Scottish High International School (SHIS) on Wednesday as it hosted a prestigious Indo-Japanese Collaborative Meet by warmly welcoming a Japanese students’ delegation from Bunka Gakuen Daigaku Suginami Junior & Senior High School, Tokyo.
The delegation comprising 19 Japanese students was led by school vice principal Shizuo Aoi, and teacher Ms. Watanabe Tomiko. Situated in the heart of Japan’s capital city Tokyo, the Bunka Gakuen Daigaku Suginami Junior & Senior High School is one of the most prestigious schools in the country with a strength of about 1300 students. Bakhtawar Kartikay Saini, Deputy Chairperson, Scottish High International School personally received the delegation at the gates of the school.
The occasion was a matter of immense pride for the country also as Scottish High was selected as one of the Best World Indian Schools to be visited by the Japanese delegation of students, thus marking the beginning of a new chapter toward sustainable Indo-Japanese students’ alliance. The event would also pave the way for forging a substantial cross-cultural partnership, and fostering a constructive climate for learning, exchange of ideas, and perspective!
With many ‘firsts’ to its credit, the SHIS is also one of the very few schools in India with EOMS ISO 21001:2018 Certification, for Educational Organization Management System. Offering a perfect prelude to the meet was the traditional welcome ceremony by Scottish High students, followed by a welcoming address by the School Principal, Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva, and a School presentation providing a glimpse into the life and tradition at Scottish High International School.

The delegates along with the crew were then taken on a guided tour of the school, which is built over a land mass of 5 acres. They visited various star-facilities including the Resource Centre, Labs, Visual Art Area, Medical Infirmary, Golf Academy, Sports Area etc., to get an insight into the holistic learning culture and environment at Scottish High. The in-house golf academy with two highly-advanced golf simulators and other golf-training equipment is run by India’s top-ranking and prestigious K&A Golf.
A friendly tug-a-war game with mixed teams also closely followed to develop the spirit of solidarity and teamwork, followed by a camaraderie lunch for all the delegates, volunteers and team members.
Dr. (Cdr) Kartikay Saini, Chairman, Scottish High International School, addressed the delegates and volunteers and presented them with the Scottish High Souvenirs and Certificates. The meeting further pinnacled with the warm exchange of memorabilia between Scottish High and the Japanese students before culminating into a warm farewell.
The Japanese school vice principal Shizuo Aoi, said that the School also provided BC curriculum for its students who enrolled in the Double-Diploma Program at Bunka Gakuen University Suginami High School. BC Education is known as one of the best in the world and British Columbia’s Grade 10 students consistently earn excellent marks in the global assessment of Math, Reading, and Science. Ten years back, the school set up Bunka Suginami Canadian International School for global exposure as well as for the further potential of students going abroad and pursuing advanced studies in world’s top institutions.
“It was the first-ever visit of our school students to India who were very excited to reach here as for them India is a mysterious country with a huge diversity and variety of cultural landscapes. We bought them here as we wanted them too to learn and understand India’s rich culture,” he added.
