India, Korea in talks to set up 10 Green Hydrogen Smart Cities in India
CIDC, KRIHS, and other stakeholders to discuss production, storage, and applications of green hydrogen in the Indian context during the Korea-India Infrastructure & Urban Development Forum: “Hydrogen Smart City “ Network on Sep 11.
NEW DELHI/SEOUL: In a major turn of events that is slated to emerge as a turning towards setting up futuristic Green Hydrogen Smart Cities, India’s Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlement (KRIHS) are going to deliberate on the subject during the one-day forum dedicated to the collaboration on green hydrogen initiatives on September 11, 2023, in New Delhi.
The Korea-India Infrastructure & Urban Development Forum: “Hydrogen Smart City” Network will bring together decision/policy-makers and experts from various sectors, including Chang Jae-bok, Ambassador of South Korea, President of KRIHS, Dr. Sudhendu J. Sinha, Advisor at Niti Aayog, K R Bonpo, Secretary of Commerce and Industry, Sikkim. Shri Prem Singh Tamang, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim is also likely to grace the occasion. In addition, representatives from both Korean and Indian industries with an interest in green hydrogen will also participate.
The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), which is a national policy research institute established to conduct studies, research, and analyses of global economic issues, guiding the nation toward effective international economic policies, is also supporting the event. The KIEP recently opened its 3rd abroad office in Delhi. It is expected to contribute to expanding India-Korea economic relations.
Interestingly, the CIDC, as the apex body of construction in India NITI Aayog, and KRIHS, are already in talks to develop 10 Green Hydrogen Smart cities in India. The one-day forum would deliberate on the possibilities and ways and means of giving this idea a possible share and framework. has played a pivotal role in Korea’s national territorial policy development with research in balanced national development, housing stability, infrastructure development, and geospatial information system
The focus of the deliberations will be centered around the production, storage, and applications of green hydrogen within the Indian context. The forum will provide a platform for discussions on collaborative efforts between Indian and Korean businesses. This includes the exchange of technical know-how, investment opportunities, and resource sharing, fostering a strong partnership to drive advancements in the green hydrogen sector.
The CIDC recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Zeus Law Associates that has one of its focus practice areas of serving Korean corporates as both sides have agreed to work together to promote the Green Hydrogen Smart Cities project among the Korean and Indian government agencies. Dr. PR Swarup and Sunil Kumar Tyagi signed the MoU representing their respective organizations – CIDC and Zeus Law.
