Indian, Japanese students interact virtually to know about each other’s country

NEW DELHI: Around 250 students from Japan and around 50 students from India participated in Future Creative & Global Inquiry-Based Learning Program between Chosa Junior High School, Japan and Tagore International School, East of Kailash, New Delhi on 7th March 2023. In this one-hour session, the students from both sides interacted on an online zoom platform.

The Japanese students watched the videos about India made by the Shin Edupower members and the Indian students watched the videos made by the Japanese students on different topics such as culture, sports, education, lifestyle, food, etc.

The students got more curious about each other’s countries after watching the videos and asking questions about the same. They shared other information like their favourite Japanese person or a famous Football player etc. The students shared their positive feedback for the program and were happy about the session. At the end of the session, the Indian students also sang their school song for the Japanese students, who also enjoyed listening to the song. The students also posed for the group photos at the end of the session with great smiles and lots of laughter.

The teachers also asked some of the questions from Japanese students and shared information about the festival Holi with Japanese students, which makes Japanese students found interested. The students from both countries asked so many questions and gave very interesting answers to each other’s questions.

The Japanese students asked about good table manners in India and the Indian students answered this by sharing that Indians mostly use their right hand while eating food and using their left hand is not considered good in Indian culture and Japanese students were shocked to know this thing.

The Indian students asked how Japanese students had coped with the changes after the coronavirus and whether were they able to play sports at that time. To this question, Japanese students replied that they were having online classes and they were not able to play any sport at that time. Even now it is affecting them as they cannot have lunch with their friends and lunchtime had become quieter.

The Japanese students were also shocked to know that there was a lockdown in India for 2 years.

Those who joined the session from Japan included school principal Shinichiro Tsuji, Chosa-Junior High school Principal, and Advisor for ICT-based Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.

As many as five education specialists those who joined the session included Kagoshima Prefectural Institute For Education Research Ms. Naomi Uchida, Youichi Takeshita, Shigakukan Junior & Senior high school Suehiro Kajihara.
