India’s High Commissioner to Britain meets Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to discuss Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City
PATNA: India’s High Commissioner to Britain, Vikram K. Doraiswami had a courtesy meeting with the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister discussed in detail about the under construction Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna.
The Chief Minister said that he wants to make the Science City in Patna a world class venue so that India’s achievements in the field of science, especially the role of the holy land Bihar and Pataliputra, which has a historical and rich past, can be remembered. The Chief Minister also shared his experiences after visiting the Science Museum.
Praising ancient Bihar in the field of astronomical calculations and mathematical analysis, the Indian High Commissioner said that Bihar has shown the light of knowledge in this field to the whole world. The information and materials related to this in the new Science City in Bihar will make people aware of its glorious past.
The Indian High Commissioner assured the Chief Minister of all possible cooperation in the construction of the Science City. During his visit to Britain, the Chief Minister took information about the innovations being made in the field of water resources in Scotland. He discussed with the High Commissioner about the better use of water in this state which has abundance of natural water resources.
He learned how it is being supplied to ninety percent of the houses in the form of drinking water. The Chief Minister took seriously information about water conservation in Scotland and how water can be used better as a resource. Bihar is an agricultural state and there is abundance of water in Bihar also. He discussed about implementing new experiments regarding water management in Bihar also.
The High Commissioner praised the Chief Minister’s Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign and discussed Bihar’s serious efforts for better management of water resources. The Chief Minister’s visit to Britain will be a new chapter in the progress of Bihar in many ways. While this visit of the Chief Minister will play an important role in establishing the Science City on the world stage, it will also help in better water management for Bihar which is affected by floods and droughts every year.
The British High Commissioner assured the Chief Minister that he will extend every possible support in building an iconic and world-class science city in Bihar and will give international recognition to Bihar’s contribution in the field of science. The project consultant of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City will coordinate for mutual cooperation. Former minister and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha was also present on this occasion.
