GURUGRAM: On the second day of the Virtual International Conference on Creating Sports Culture in Universities, organized by SGT University witnessed speakers from countries like Germany, Spain, India, Sri Lanka, and Israel.

Prof. Ulrich Rosen, Director, Dept. of Health Science, RM Professional College Guetersioh, Germany, very well explained about epigenetics and hand out scientific plans for more success for high-performance athletes.

He argued that without proper genetic profile you can’t win at high stake competitions. Drawing a comparison between nature and nurture, he skewed more towards nature and supported plant-based diet, and how diet affects our genes, for more efficiency and was not hesitant to admit that most top-notch athletes are vegan.

The session was chaired by Prof. Asis Goswami, Dean, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Kolkata.

While chairing the session for Dr. Y Venkata Ramana, Scientist, Dr. Rakesh Tomar, King Fahd University, UAE, emphasized on the integration of university sports culture and regional culture and that the Universities can be the sports hub and how it can be a home ground for professional sports events in future.

Dr. Y Venkata Ramana, Scientist – G & Head, Dept. of Work Physiology and Sports Nutrition, MYAS – NIN Dept. of Sports Science talked about the nutrition for sports performance and focused on the current situation and practices in India at the moment. While addressing the important factors affecting the sports he gave away his scholarly observation.

The three-day Virtual International Conference on Creating Sports Culture in Universities at SGT University is a brainchild of the Managing Trustee of Dashmesh Educational Charitable Trust, Manmohan Singh Chawla, which is very well nurtured and executed by Dr. G L Khanna, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and CEO Prof. S R Musanna of SGT University. Akhry Ameer, Freelance Business Consultant, Sri Lanka highlighted the importance of Autonomy and Governance in Developing Nations in special relation to the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Experience. It provided a deep understanding of a developing nation’s perspective in bringing about the sports culture in Universities and addressed the practicality of the issues. The session was chaired by Meenakshi Pahuja, Assist. Prof, LSR, New Delhi.

Ofra Abramovich, Founder, and Chairwomen Mamanet, Israel through her Mamanet league, which is a special movement, is creating a better world for mothers and their children and inculcating the sports habits for a sound mind in a sound body. The take away was that when the mother plays the entire family plays. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Kalpana Sharma, Dean, Amity School of Physical Education, Amity University, Noida.

Prof. Pere Lavega, Prof. and Head, National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia, University of Lleida, Spain highlighted the need to promote the traditional games as they are part of our cultural heritage and form a part of us. One may find these traditional games primitive but when analyzed thoroughly these games revel many scientific functions like improving the motor action accurately and timely. The session was chaired by Dr. Mantu Shah, DIPAS, NewDelhi.

Dr. Peter Herm, Kinanthropometrist Institut Fur Bewegungund Sportanthropologie Bed Oeynhausen, Germany explored and explained the different dimensions and related challenges of how physical development can help the children and youth Sports in Universities. The session was chaired by Dr. Kommi Kalpana, NIN, Hyderabad. All the sessions yielded the desired outcome as there were a lot of quarries at the end of each session.
