ITO EN’s global Japanese green tea brand Oi Ocha to make India debut soon

TOKYO: Japan-headquartered ITO EN, LTD. has appointed La Ditta Singapore Pte Ltd in April 2024 as its exclusive marketing and distributor partner in India to start working on researching the Indian market, and promoting company’s global Japanese green tea brand Oi Ocha here.

ITO EN is a leading green tea manufacturer and marketer from Japan with a global presence. The company is known for its flagship brand Ready-to-Drink “Oi-Ocha” and premium Japanese green tea products.

Founded in 1966, this company now with a turnover of USD 2.9 billion, has the world’s best-selling product line in over 40 countries.

Oi Ocha was created in 1989 as the flagship brand of Japanese tea company ITO EN. It is a mega-brand that has expanded and led the Japanese green tea market for many years since its release, and even today continues to maintain its stable position.

The Oi Ocha has even been recognized since 2019 with a Guinness World Record as the world’s biggest selling natural healthy RTD green tea beverage and has continued to expand its footprint as an innovative brand driving the global green tea market.

The brand name was derived from the Japanese phrase “Oi ocha!” which means “Tea please!”.

Harry Hakuei Kosato of La Ditta Singapore has been working in India promoting Japan with its quality food and culture for over 17 years since April 2007. He incorporated La Ditta Singapore in 2011, then subsequently established its subsidiary Sushi and More India Private Limited in Mumbai in 2018.

Harry Hakuei Kosato also represents the world leading Japanese soy sauce manufacturer Kikkoman India from September 2020, and the Japanese government appointed him as Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador in December 2022.

ITO EN aims to gain the brand presence in India, given the country’s rising and expanding economy and its status with the highest number of populations in the world.

ITO EN will work closely with Harry Hakuei Kosato and his team and collaborate with various partners to start research, prepare product development, marketing, and sales activities in India in the coming months
