Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup event to catch attention of PM Modi

This golfing event organized by ACN is part of the ongoing Japan Month, which was proposed by Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Japan in 2022. Hence, the Japan Month activities are very close to the heart of the PM.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi could soon be made aware of the Japan India Maitri Golf Cup 2024, which was organised recently in Gurugram as part of the ongoing Japan Month. The Embassy of Japan, which is organizing more than 60 events in India during September-October  to commemorate Japan Month to strengthen India Japan relations, had launched the drive on the request of PM Modi in 2022.

While participating in the Japan India Maitri Golf Cup 2024 on 19th October, Takashi Ariyoshi, Minister & Deputy Chief of Mission, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Japan, said, “We are very thankful to Asian Community News (ACN) for organizing Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup 2024. Now I can report to PM Modi ji that we did such a wonderful golfing event to strengthen Japan India relations.”

Ariyoshi san said that in May 2022 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gone to Japan and asked the business community there to do some road show in India to give a push to people-to-people connect, and also to  motivate and make the Indian youths more aware about Japan.

“He then had suggested to do Japan Week in India. It was after this we talked to the Japanese community in India and decided to do Japan Month spread across during September and October. There are going to be more than 60 events being organized during this period. Mela Mela Anime Japan, which was recently organised in New Delhi attracted more than 47,000 visitors,” he added.

Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup 2024 was organized by Asian Community (ACN) Network with the support of the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII) at Golden Greens Golf Course, Gurugram on 19th Oct 2024. The JCCII is an apex organization with more than 560 Japanese member companies operating in Delhi and NCR towns.

In addition to Takashi Ariyoshi, those present during the event included Ambassador Perisamy Kumaran, now Special Secretary, MEA, Kenji Sugino, Secretary General, JCCII, Robert HSIEH Bor-Huei, Deputy Representative, Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in India, Euy Don Park, Chairman of Federation of Korean Associations in India, Hee-Mun Yang, Chairman, WandoC Impex, Jeong-Mun Hong, Head Indian Operations, WandoC Impex, Mahaveer Singhavi, Joint Secretary, MEA, and others.

The off-beat prize Booby Maker “Wooden Spoon” was won by Kengo Fujii of PERSOLKELLY India, Booby “Wooden Spoon” by Jagvir Singh, Partner, Jupiter Law Partners, and Only Female Golfer prize goes by Ms. Mai Hatta of HASORA Japanese Café & Organic Store.

The participants enjoyed a range of authentic Japanese food varieties including super seafood Abalone also known as Awabi (アワビ) in Japanese language during the Gala Networking Dinner & Award Ceremony.

The Japanese delicacies including Tori Karage とり唐揚げ (crunchy & crispy fried chicken), Kushi Katsu ⁠串カツ(pork) Ramen  ⁠ラーメン , and Itoyori dai netsuke イトヨリ鯛煮付け (boiled marine fish) was sponsored and served by NAGOMI Family Dining Restaurant of AJU Group of Japanese hotels.

Much to the ecstasy of the Japanese, Indian and other participants, WandoC IMPEX sponsored and served freshly cooked varieties of super seafood Abalone. Abalone is Korea’s super seafood, which is rich in nutrients such as arginine, taurine, alginic acid, fucoidan, and is more responsible for both health and beauty benefits. The company imports abalone, seaweed, wakame (sea mustard), and kelp, which are representative specialties of Jeollanam-do and other regions of South Korea. A whole lot of Japanese, Korean and Chinese restaurants in Delhi NCR and other regions of India have started serving abalone.

Ms. Asuka Hatta, Co-Founder, HASORA Japanese Cafe and Orgainc Stores was the EmCee of the event and managed the show with effective Japanese language.

Clad in ethnic Japanese attires Kimonos, the students of LANGMA School of Languages present three Indo-Japanese cultural performances and won accolades and huge round of applause for their acts from the audience.

Top brass of more than 45 Japanese companies participated in the Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup 2024. About 70 top management cadres including Managing Directors, Founders, CEOs & CXOs, Presidents, Country Representatives, Sr. VPs, and HoDs, of these companies played golf, and also attended the Gala Networking Dinner & Award Ceremony the same evening.
