New Delhi. For the benefit of the students learning Japanese language and culture, the Amity University, Haryana has set up a Japanese Corner at its Manesar (Gurugram) campus.
According to the university officials, the students learning Japanese language and culture would be able to study more about Japan with the help of books and other audio-visual aids here.
Hiroaki Konishi, the Japanese Language Advisor, Japan Foundation, New Delhi cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Japanese Corner, which has been set up at the university’s Central Library.
Yavanika Verma, the Japanese Language Coordinator, the Japan Foundation, New Delhi was also present on the occasion besides Prof Ashok Tiku, the Head, Amity School of Languages and Archana Tiwary, Assistant Professor (Japanese Language) and Rajesh Sharma the librarian of the university.
Before inaugurating the Japanese Corner, Hiroaki Konishi took a round of the library and went through the type of books on the Japanese culture and language. He also visited the language lab where the students learning foreign languages can polish their speaking and listening skills with the help of audio-visual aids and software.
Hiroaki Konishi also interacted with the undergraduate students learning the Japanese language as their elective subject and asked questions too related to Japanese language and culture. He gifted away pens to the students who gave correct answers.
According to Prof Ashok Tiku the library has had books for the Japanese Corner and audio-visual aids would soon be arriving.
Prof Tiku told the Japan Foundation delegation that Amity University was interested in taking up research projects related to Japanese cultures. He also offered the Japan Foundation to use the University campus for the teachers training programmes being run by the Japan Foundation.
