Japanese women learn draping Indian ethnic attire Saree
Event curated exclusively for the Japanese women by Kaseyyaka - The Authentic Banarasi Store in collaboration with Aju Japanese Hotels presented five different ways of draping a saree.
Gurugram: In an unusual and interesting tern of event, a over 50 Japanese women got together to learn the basic nuances of draping Indian ethnic attire Saree at the ‘Saree Seminar’ in Gurugram. In this event, Ms Tarannum Khan a professional known among the Japanese fraternity, started off with explaining the standard way of draping a saree, and also shared the important tips to beautifully drape as well as easily carry saree without disturbing the drape.
The event exclusively curated for the Japanese women by Kaseyyaka – The Authentic Banarasi Store, New Delhi and Aju Japanese Hotels- Gurugram at the later’s facility, was organized on 16th November, 2024.
The idea was to explain to the participants that if they take that one step to practice and learn the standard draping of saree, this itself would open up possibilities of exploring various draping styles of saree.
Ms Tarannum, showcased in all 5 different and interesting ways of draping a saree. She said, “India is land of varied culture and even the saree draping style changes into the traditional draping style in specific states like Kolkata and Maharashtra. So, we tried to provide a glimpse of different saree draping styles in India. We received overwhelming response from all the participants who enthusiastically learnt the tips and tricks of wearing saree.”
The second session further raised the enthusiasm wherein the participants personally and physically explored various sarees in pure Silk, Chiffon, Georgette, Silk-cotton fabric etc. from Varanasi as well as from other states. This session provided an exclusive opportunity to the ladies to understand the fabrics and drapes all at the same time with the comfort of receiving all the explanations in their language and as per the Japanese mannerism.
The owner of Kaseyyaka on one side has a family business of Banarasi sarees that was started in Varanasi 50 years back by his forefathers, and his wife Ms Tarannum brings her experience of working as a professional with the Japanese fraternity for more than 15 years. Together they make a strong pair who combine their strength and experience of their family business of Banarasi sarees with the deep understanding and mannerism of working with Japanese people.
